Clinton Francis Barton, more commonly known as Clint Barton, is a fictional character portrayed by Jeremy Renner in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) media franchise—based on the Marvel Comics character Hawkeye (Clint Barton), of the same name—commonly by his Pseudonym, alias, Hawkeye. Barton is depicted as an expert marksman, Archery, archer and hand-to-hand combatant, with his preferred weapon being a recurve bow. Initially an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. (Marvel Cinematic Universe), S.H.I.E.L.D., Barton is recruited by Steve Rogers (Marvel Cinematic Universe), Steve Rogers and becomes a founding member of the Avengers (Marvel Cinematic Universe), Avengers. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is an American media franchise and shared universe centered on a series of superhero films produced by Marvel Studios.
