Ronan Collins
Ronan Collins (born 9 October 1952) is an Irish broadcaster from Glasnevin, Dublin. Up until 23 December 2022, Collins held the prestige of maintaining one of the longest-running radio shows on Ireland’s national station, RTÉ Radio 1. At its peak, 250,000 listeners tuned in daily to ‘The Ronan Collins Show’ between 12pm - 1pm, Monday - Friday. Life and career Collins started his show business career as a member of a showband playing drums. He began his national radio career on RTÉ Radio 2, having worked on pirate radio prior to that. During his television career, he presented the celebrity game show '' Play the Game'' from 1984 to 1995. He also used to present Ireland’s national lottery draw, and most recently A Little Bit Showband (2008–2009). Collins has commentated on the Eurovision Song Contest for RTÉ One television. James Greeley (born 12 September 1945) is an Irish radio voiceover. He worked for 4fm until early 2012. Greeley is a veteran of Irish radio having worked for many stations such as Millennium 88FM, RTÉ 2fm RTÉ News and RTÉ Radio 1. In May 1994 he joined Dublin's local station 98FM, presenting the weekday ''Morning News'', alongside the Head Teena Gates. Greeley spent 14 years in that post. Eurovision Song Contest 1989
The Eurovision Song Contest 1989 was the 34th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Lausanne, Switzerland, following Céline Dion's victory at the with the song "Ne partez pas sans moi". Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SRG SSR), the contest was held at Palais de Beaulieu on 6 May 1989 and was hosted by Swiss model Lolita Morena and journalist Jacques Deschenaux. Twenty-two countries took part in the contest with returning after having been disqualified the year before. The winner was with the song " Rock Me" by Croatian band Riva. Michelle Mary Teresa Rocca (born 1961) is an Irish former model, television presenter, and beauty queen who, in 1980, won the Miss Ireland title. The following year, she married footballer John Devine. Two years after their divorce in 1990 she met and later married, Northern Irish singer Van Morrison. Michael James Murphy (born 20 October 1941) is an Irish broadcaster, actor and property developer. He is best known for his long broadcasting career with RTÉ, presenting many TV shows such as ''The Live Mike'', ''Winning Streak'' and '' The Big Interview''. Six were an Irish pop group who formed on the Irish version of the television programme ''Popstars'' in 2002. The programme aired on RTÉ One on Sunday nights in the autumn and winter of 2001–02. The band were signed to Simon Cowell under BMG Records UK and managed by Louis Walsh who also appeared as a judge on the show.
