Ronald Tavel
Ronald Tavel (May 17, 1936 – March 23, 2009) was an American screenwriter, director, novelist, poet and actor, best known for his work with Andy Warhol and The Factory. Early life and career Born in Brooklyn, New York, Tavel graduated from Brooklyn College and later attended the University of Wyoming, where he earned a Master's degree in creative writing in 1959. Tavel worked as a screenwriter during the 1960s for many of Andy Warhol's underground films including ''Chelsea Girls''. Tavel worked with other members of Warhol's Factory crowd, including Freddie Herko, Ondine, Mary Woronov, Billy Name, and Brigid Berlin. He also received the Obie Award for Outstanding Contribution to Theater in 1969, for the musical drama ''Boy On the Straight-Back Chair''. ''Street of Stairs'' is a 1968 novel by the American dramatist Ronald Tavel. It was published by Olympia Press in a seriously-abridged form—over half of the book was excised—but Tavel later released the original, unabridged version of the book online. It is a pederastic and polyphonic novel that follows the life of Mark, an expatriate in Tangier, Morocco, who falls in love with Hamid, a thief. Publication The novel was published by the Olympia Press in 1968. In their publication, Olympia Press excised over half of the book, even though, according to literary critic Richard Kostelanetz, they promised Tavel that they would publish the work in its entirety. Later in life, Tavel released a scan of the unabridged version of ''Street of Stairs'' on his personal website. ''Horse'' is a 1965 underground film directed by Andy Warhol, written by Ronald Tavel, and starring Edie Sedgwick, Gregory Battcock, Tosh Carillo, Ondine, Norman Glick, Daniel Cassidy Jr., and Larry Latrae (Latreille). Warhol makes a cameo. A photo from ''Horse'' published in Parker Tyler's book ''Underground Film'' ( Grove Press, 1969; reprint DaCapo Press, 1995) shows all the male performers dressed only in jockstraps. Plot The main event is a strip poker game in which an outlaw, his sheriff captor, and a pal join. The game ends with the outlaw (Tosh Carrillo) getting beaten up by the others for cheating. ''The Life of Juanita Castro'' is a 1965 American underground film directed by Andy Warhol, filmed in March 1965. Plot A playwright (Ronald Tavel) taunts a number of actresses into improvising a play on Fidel Castro and his family, at a time when the revolution was bringing back disquieting stories of executions and imprisonments and, particularly, virulent hatred and torture of homosexuals in Cuba. Several of the play's male characters (Fidel Castro, Raul Castro, and Che Guevara) are played by women. The actresses face a camera they believe is filming them, while in fact they are being filmed by another camera placed off to one side. Heart Attack
A myocardial infarction (MI), commonly known as a heart attack, occurs when blood flow decreases or stops to the coronary artery of the heart, causing damage to the heart muscle. The most common symptom is chest pain or discomfort which may travel into the shoulder, arm, back, neck or jaw. Often it occurs in the center or left side of the chest and lasts for more than a few minutes. The discomfort may occasionally feel like heartburn.
