Ronald Ross (basketball)
Ronald Ross (born February 11, 1983) is an American retired professional basketball player and coach. He played internationally for a number of years but he is best known for his collegiate career at Texas Tech University. Playing career High school A native of the Southwest, Ross starred at Hobbs High School in Hobbs, New Mexico. He was an integral part of three consecutive state championships from 1999 to 2001, including an undefeated campaign as a sophomore in 1998–99 (27–0). Hobbs High School won the 1999 and 2001 state championships at the University of New Mexico's famous home court, The Pit. And while Ross performed well throughout his prep career – having been named ''USA Todays New Mexico State Player of the Year as a senior – he found himself without any four-year college scholarship offers. Hobbs, New Mexico
Hobbs is a city in Lea County, New Mexico, Lea County, New Mexico, United States. Its population was 40,508 at the 2020 United States census, 2020 census, increasing from 34,122 in 2010. Hobbs is the principal city of the Hobbs, New Mexico micropolitan statistical area, which includes all of Lea County. History Hobbs was founded in 1907 when James Isaac Hobbs (1852–1923) established a Homestead principle, homestead and named the settlement. The Hrvatski Telekom Premijer liga ( en, Hrvatski Telekom Premier League, ), also known as HT Premijer liga or simply Premijer liga, is the first tier level men's professional basketball league in Croatia. It began in 1991, following the breakup of SFR Yugoslavia and therefore the Yugoslav League, and is organized by the Croatian Basketball Federation. Hobbs News-Sun
The Hobbs News-Sun is a daily newspaper published Tuesday through Sunday in Hobbs, New Mexico, featuring news, sports and other features of interest to readers in Lea County. The News-Sun was the result of a merger between two of the many local newspapers that appeared in Hobbs in the 1930s, following the region's oil boom at that time. Competition fell away until only the News-Sun and the Hobbs Flare remained. The Flare was sold to Golden West Free Press in 1993 and was sold to Sun Publishing of Lake Charles, La., in December 1996. It was closed in December 1997. Sun Publishing also owns the Hobbs News-Sun. The term senior, in regard to education, has different meanings depending on the country. United States In the United States education, a senior is a student in the fourth year of study, either in high school or college/university. The Pit (arena)
The Pit is an indoor arena in Albuquerque, New Mexico, serving primarily as the home venue of the University of New Mexico Lobos basketball teams. The facility opened in 1966 as University Arena but gained the nickname "The Pit" due to its innovative subterranean design, with its playing floor below street level. The arena is located on the UNM South Campus and has a seating capacity of 15,411 for basketball and up to 13,480 for concerts, with 40 luxury suites and 365 club seats. The Pit has frequently hosted NCAA basketball tournament games, including the 1983 Final Four, which featured North Carolina State upset win over Houston. The ''Albuquerque Journal'' is the largest newspaper in the U.S. state of New Mexico. History The ''Golden Gate'' newspaper was founded in June 1880. In the fall of 1880, the owner of the ''Golden Gate'' died and Journal Publishing Company was created. Journal Publishing changed the paper name to ''Albuquerque Daily Journal'' and issued its first edition of the ''Albuquerque Daily Journal'' on October 14, 1880. The ''Daily Journal'' was first published in Old Town Albuquerque, but in 1882 the publication moved to a single room in the so-called new town (or expanded Albuquerque) at Second and Silver streets near the railroad tracks.
