Ronald Richardson
Ronald Alfred Richardson (10 November 1927 – 17 November 1998) was an English cricketer. Richardson was a left-handed batsman. He was born in North Duffield, Yorkshire. Richardson made his first-class debut for North Eastern Transvaa in South Africa against Rhodesia. Richardson played first-class cricket for the team from 1954 to 1958, representing them in 13 matches. In his 13 first-class matches he scored 772 runs at a batting average of 33.56, with two half centuries and a single century high score of 140 * against Eastern Province. Later returning to England, Richardson made his debut Cheshire in the 1963 Minor Counties Championship against the Yorkshire Second XI. Richardson played Minor counties cricket for Cheshire from 1963 to 1970, which included 24 Minor Counties Championship matches. North Duffield
North Duffield is a village and civil parish in the Selby District of North Yorkshire, England. It was historically part of the East Riding of Yorkshire until 1974. It lies about north-east of Selby and south-east of York, on the A163 road from Selby to Market Weighton. The River Derwent forms the eastern boundary of the parish. It has an area of around (according to 2001 UK Census data). There are approximately 1,800 residents in the village, the majority of whom are aged between 30 and 50 years. The population at the 2011 Census was 1,317. In cricket, a century is a score of 100 or more runs in a single innings by a batsman. The term is also included in "century partnership" which occurs when two batsmen add 100 runs to the team total when they are batting together. A century is regarded as a landmark score for batsmen and a player's number of centuries is generally recorded in their career statistics. Northamptonshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Northamptonshire. Its limited overs team is called the Northants Steelbacks – a reference to the Northamptonshire Regiment which was formed in 1881. The name was supposedly a tribute to the soldiers' apparent indifference to the harsh discipline imposed by their officers. Founded in 1878, Northamptonshire (Northants) held minor status at first but was a prominent member of the early Minor Counties Championship during the 1890s. The 1968 Gillette Cup was the sixth Gillette Cup, an English limited overs county cricket tournament. It was held between 27 April and 7 September 1968. The tournament was won by Warwickshire County Cricket Club who defeated Sussex County Cricket Club by 4 wickets in the final at Lord's. The newly launched London Weekend Television won the rights to show the final throughout the ITV network, considered a major coup when set alongside the strong association the BBC then had with cricket (and would for another thirty years). Minor Counties Of English And Welsh Cricket
The National Counties, known as the Minor Counties before 2020, are the cricketing counties of England and Wales that do not have first-class status. The game is administered by the National Counties Cricket Association (NCCA), which comes under the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). There are currently twenty teams in National Counties cricket: nineteen representing historic counties of England, plus the Wales National County Cricket Club. Of the 39 historic counties of England, 17 have a first-class county cricket team (the 18th first-class county is Glamorgan in Wales) and 18 participate in the National Counties championship.
