Ron Carpenter (designer)
Ron Carpenter (born 1950 in Dorking) is an English typographer. He was trained as a cartographer and later became a typeface designer. He works for independent font foundry, Dalton Maag. Early life Carpenter grew up in the village of Brockham, Surrey, as the younger of two brothers born to George and Audrey Carpenter. He attended Brockham Village School before finishing his studies at Sondes Place School. Career Out of school at the age of 16, Carpenter trained as a cartographer. His work involved the surveying for and hand drawing of Ordnance Survey maps. During this time he developed an interest in typography and obtained a job at Monotype. In 1986, Carpenter designed and developed the font, Calisto MT, an old style serif. The Calisto face is intended to function as both a text and display face. Cartographer
Cartography (; from grc, χάρτης , "papyrus, sheet of paper, map"; and , "write") is the study and practice of making and using maps. Type design is the art and process of designing typefaces. This involves drawing each letterform using a consistent style. The basic concepts and design variables are described below. A typeface differs from other modes of graphic production such as handwriting and drawing in that it is a fixed set of alphanumeric characters with specific characteristics to be used repetitively. Dalton Maag
Dalton Maag is an independent font foundry with offices in London, UK, and São Paulo, Brazil. It designs fonts for use in corporate identities, logos, and other text uses. Dalton Maag has a library of 30 retail fonts as of 2016 and offers custom font creation and modification services to its clients. Typefaces Many of Dalton Maag's typefaces have been designed for corporate clients. Dalton Maag's larger clients include AT&T, Netflix, BBC, Amazon, McDonald's, Nokia, BMW, DeviantArt, Intel, Vodafone, Ubuntu and Toyota. Calisto (typeface)
Calisto MT is an old style, serif typeface designed for the Monotype Corporation foundry in 1986 by Ron Carpenter, a British typographer. Calisto MT is intended to function as both a typeface for body text and display text. Its stroke contrast is minimal and it preserves an even color, especially in smaller point sizes, which contributes to its great legibility. Its Roman and italic glyphs are animated by serifs and terminals that are cut on an angle to the baseline, and are concavely indented on the terminals, reminiscent of the Belwe and Palatino typefaces. Serif

Bruno Maag
Bruno Maag (born 1962) is a Swiss type designer and founder of type design company Dalton Maag. Maag began his career with an apprenticeship as a typesetter for the Tages Anzeiger, Switzerland's largest daily paper. This led him to study Visual Communication at Basel School of Design. During a work experience placement at Stempel, he met Rene Kerfante who later moved to Monotype and then invited him to join him there. He worked for Monotype both in the UK and in the USA, where he designed fonts for ''The New Yorker''. He established Dalton Maag in London in 1991.
