Ron Bain
Ron Bain is a Scottish television actor, director, producer, comedian and former stage actor who now focuses primarily on directing. He is known for his work with comedian Rikki Fulton, with whom he first worked while performing Molière's ''The Miser'' at the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh, in 1971 and for his productions spotlighting Fulton's character 'the Reverend I. M. Jolly'. Career In 1977 Bain appeared as the weasely villain 'Danny the Busker' in ''The XYY Man'', but he is best known for his work in comedy, rounding up sketches in ''Naked Video'' with stars such as Gregor Fisher, Elaine C Smith, Jonathan Watson, Helen Lederer, John Sparkes, Andy Gray, Tony Roper, Louise Beattie and Kate Donnelly. Naked Video
''Naked Video'' is a BBC Scotland sketch show that was aired on BBC2 from 12 May 1986 to 18 November 1991. The show was created by Colin Gilbert who had previously created ''A Kick Up the Eighties'' and ''Naked Radio'' (the latter being a radio sketch show that was aired on BBC Radio Scotland, began its ten-year run on 22 January 1981, covered all aspects of Scottish society and featured a lot of topical satire material rather than parody). The series originally starred Ron Bain, Gregor Fisher, Andy Gray, Elaine C. Smith, Tony Roper, Helen Lederer and Jonathan Watson, but they were later joined by Kate Donnelly and Louise Beattie. ''A Kick Up the Eighties'' was a 1981–1984 BBC 2 comedy sketch show starring Robbie Coltrane (Series 2), Tracey Ullman, Richard Stilgoe (Series 1), Miriam Margolyes, Rik Mayall, Ron Bain and Roger Sloman. The show was created by Tom Gutteridge (producer/director) and Sean Hardie (executive producer). Colin Gilbert was script editor. Series One, comprising six shows, was broadcast on BBC2 from 21 September 1981 to 26 October 1981. Series Two, comprising four shows, was broadcast on BBC2 between 3 January 1984 and 24 January 1984. Tony Roper (actor)
Tony Roper (born 19 August 1941) is a Scottish actor, comedian, playwright and writer. Career In his early life he worked as a miner in Fife (where there were family connections), and as a van boy in a Glasgow bakery. His first major starring role was in ''Scotch and Wry''. He wrote the comedy-drama ''The Steamie'' in 1987, for which he won a BAFTA. He achieved even greater fame in ''Naked Video'' and in the spin-off series ''Rab C. Nesbitt'', in which he played Rab's partner-in-crime, Jamesie Cotter. He also starred in the short-lived 1999 sitcom ''All Along the Watchtower''. Tony also had a small part as the postman in the longer version of the 1973 cult film, ''The Wicker Man''. Andy Gray (13 September 1959 – 18 January 2021) was a Scottish actor and writer from Perth, Scotland. He appeared on stage and TV, including starring roles in the BBC series ''Naked Video'', ''City Lights'', and ''River City''. Education He trained in Drama at Edinburgh's Queen Margaret University from 1976 to 1979.
