Eisenhower High School (Michigan)
Eisenhower High School, occasionally referred to as simply "Ike," is a high school located in the Metropolitan Detroit suburb of Shelby Township. It is consistently ranked as the top performing high school in Macomb County. History Opened in 1972, Eisenhower is one of two public high school located in Shelby Township. Until the 1990s, the school had a Washington Township mailing address. As the surrounding area began to develop, the city limits changed and the school fell into Shelby Township boundaries. The original design of the school had few windows and no walls in the individual wings, giving the school an open concept. This open concept failed, as multiple classes could be heard at the same time. The building was quickly segmented into its current classroom structure. Nick Blankenburg
Nick Blankenburg (born May 12, 1998) is an American professional ice hockey player for the Cleveland Monsters in the American Hockey League (AHL) as a prospect to the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League (NHL). He played college ice hockey at Michigan. Early life Blankenburg attended Romeo High School. During his senior year he was team captain and recorded 35 goals and 32 assists in 30 games, and helped lead the Bulldogs to their first state championship in school history in 2016. Playing career Junior After graduating from Romeo in 2016, Blankenburg tried out twice for the North American Hockey League, but had no success. With a year left of eligibility for AAA hockey, he tried out for and made the Victory Honda 18U team in Plymouth, Michigan. John Stoughton Newberry
John Stoughton Newberry (November 18, 1826 – January 2, 1887) was an American industrialist and politician. He served as the first provost marshal for the State of Michigan and as a U.S. Representative from the state of Michigan. Early life Newberry was born in Waterville, New York, the son of Elihu Newberry and Rhoda (Phelps) Newberry. He moved with his parents to Michigan when a child, residing in Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Romeo. He completed preparatory studies at Romeo Academy and graduated from the University of Michigan in 1848 as head of his class. Under the influence of his uncle, Oliver Newberry, he spent two years in civil engineering working with the Michigan Central Railroad building the line from Kalamazoo to New Buffalo.
