Romeo (Ketil Stokkan Song)
Norway played host to the Eurovision Song Contest 1986, so the country was automatically entered into the final in Bergen. Before Eurovision Melodi Grand Prix 1986 The Norwegian national final to select their entry, the ''Melodi Grand Prix 1986'', was held on 22 March 1986 at the Stavanger Forum convention center in Stavanger, hosted by actor Jarl Goli. The Band was conducted by Fred Nøddelund. Ten songs competed with the winner being decided by four regional juries (Oslo, Lillehammer, Trondheim and Vadsø), a press jury composed of newspaper, radio and television journalists, the inhabitants of the Statfjord A oil rig in the North Sea and the studio audience in Stavanger. The winning entry was "Romeo", composed and performed by Ketil Stokkan. At Eurovision Stokkan performed fourth on the night of the contest, following France and preceding the United Kingdom. Ketil Stokkan
Ketil Stokkan (born 29 April 1956) is a Norwegian pop artist who has performed as solo artist as well as the singer in the Norwegian band Zoo. Stokkan was born in Harstad. In 1983 he participated in the Norwegian qualifying heat for Eurovision with the song "Samme charmeur" which was placed second. In 1986 he won the national Melodi Grand Prix with the song "Romeo", written by himself, which came 12th on homeground in the Eurovision Song Contest final, which that year was held in Bergen, Norway. In 1990 he won the national final again with the song "Brandenburger Tor", the song ended up last tied with Finland. Stokkan now works as a school teacher in Nordkjosbotn, Balsfjord. Stokkan is also an outspoken ''Odd Fellow''. Stokkan also participated in Melodi Grand Prix 2021 ''Melodi Grand Prix 2021'' was the 59th edition of the Norwegian music competition Melodi Grand Prix (MGP). Anne-Marie Giørtz
Anne-Marie Giørtz (born 19 March 1958) is a Norwegian vocalist, orchestra conductor, singing teacher in the genre jazz, and married to the Norwegian guitarist Eivind Aarset. She has performed and recorded with various bands. Career Giørtz started her career as trumpeter in Lysaker school marching band, studied piano and saxophone at University of Oslo (1976–80), and made herself marked at the Oslo jazz scene where she was part of the band "EIM" (1980–82), before she established her own Anne Marie Giørtz Kvintett (1982–86), together with her brother Ole Henrik Giørtz among others. The band continued in her band Ab und Zu. Other partners include "Radiostorbandet" and "Danmarks Radiostorband". She was part of the Rock band Bazar initiated early 1970s by guitarist Rolf Aakervik in Oslo. Svein Dag Hauge (born 23 October 1956 in Årdal, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz musician (guitar) and record producer, known from the band Lava and numerous recordings as a studio musician. Alexandra Naumik (formerly Alexandra Sandøy; 12 August 1949 – 17 September 2013), better known by her stage name Alex, was a Lithuanian-born, Polish-Norwegian rock and pop artist who rose to fame in the late 1970s. Biography Naumik was born in 1949 to Polish parents in Vilnius, Lithuanian SSR. During the Stalinist era she was deported to Siberia together with her family and only arrived in Poland 6 years later.
