Romel Beck
Romel Roberto Beck-Castro (born May 29, 1982) is a Mexican professional basketball player who last played for Aguacateros de Michoacan of the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional (LNPB). He also played for the Mexico national basketball team. Beck is probably best known for crossing over Kobe Bryant and scoring a rare four-point play against the USA Men's basketball guard during the 2007 FIBA Americas Championship. After having decided against playing for KK Zadar of Croatia, Beck signed to play for Los Tecos of Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara of the Mexican Basketball Federation in 2008 for two months. Beck previously played in Italy with Pierrel Capo d'Orlando and Varese. Romel Beck was drafted by the Florida Flame in the first round of the NBDL Draft, and he played for them for a season. The Mexico national basketball team (Spanish: Selección de baloncesto de México) represents Mexico in men's international basketball competitions, The team has made five appearances in FIBA World Cup, The governing body of the team is the Asociación Deportiva Mexicana de Básquetbol (ADEMEBA). NBA Development League
The NBA G League, or simply the G League, is the National Basketball Association's (NBA) official List of developmental and minor sports leagues, minor league basketball organization. The league was known as the National Basketball Development League (NBDL) from 2001 to 2005, and the NBA Development League (NBA D-League) from 2005 until 2017. The NBA Summer League, also known as the Las Vegas Summer League, is an off-season competition organized by the National Basketball Association. Florida Flame
The Florida Flame was an NBA Development League team based in Fort Myers, Florida. The Flame announced they would temporarily shut down operations during 2006–07, due to not having a home arena in which to play. The team maintained its league membership in hopes of finding a venue for the next season. When that didn't happen, the Flame quietly folded all operations in late 2007. Franchise history The North Charleston Lowgators began play in the National Basketball Development League in 2001–02. The team was renamed the Charleston Lowgators in the fall of 2003. FIBA Americas Championship 2007
The 2007 FIBA Americas Championships later known as the FIBA AmeriCup (or The Tournament of the Americas), was a basketball tournament held at Thomas & Mack Center, in Las Vegas, from August 22, to September 2. It was the thirteenth staging of the FIBA AmeriCup. The tournament was originally going to be hosted in Venezuela. However, the Venezuelan federation failed to pay a $1.5 million fee, as of August 31, 2006. As such, their hosting privileges were taken away. Several countries had shown interest in hosting the tournament, including: United States, Chile, Argentina, and Puerto Rico. The United States had not hosted it since 1992, Chile had never hosted it, Argentina had held it last in 2001, and Puerto Rico had last hosted in 2003.
