Romblon, officially the Municipality of Romblon, is a 3rd class municipality and capital of the province of Romblon, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 40,554 people. The town comprises the entire Romblon Island, one of the three major islands of Romblon province aside from Sibuyan Island and Tablas Island. As the capital of the province, it is also the seat of the Provincial Government. Its natives mostly speak Romblomanon or ''Ini'' language. Romblon is known for its local marble industry and is the second biggest producer of the mineral in the country. It also a tourist destination because of its unspoiled beaches and Spanish-era twin forts. Twin Forts Of Romblon
The Twin Forts of Romblon ( fil, Magkaparis na Tanggulan ng Romblon) are a pair of Spanish fortifications located in the town of Romblon, Romblon in the Philippines. It was built by the Spanish in 1644 to protect the town from Muslim raids and Dutch piracy in the country during the Eighty Years' War. In 2013, the site has been declared a National Cultural Treasure under the protection of the Philippine government through the National Museum of the Philippines. Romblon ( , ), officially the Province of Romblon, is an archipelagic province of the Philippines located in the Mimaropa region. Its main islands include Tablas, the largest, which covers nine municipalities; Sibuyan with its three towns; as well as the smaller island municipalities of Corcuera, Banton, Concepcion, San Jose, and the municipality of the same name (which also serves as the provincial capital). Romblomanon or Bisaya/Binisaya nga Romblomanon is an Austronesian regional language spoken, along with Asi and Onhan, in the province of Romblon in the Philippines. The language is also called ''Ini'', ''Tiyad Ini'', ''Basi'', ''Niromblon'', and ''Sibuyanon''. It is a part of the Bisayan language family and is closely related to other Philippine languages. Tablas Island
Tablas is the largest of the islands that comprise the province of Romblon in the Philippines. The name of the island was of Spanish origin. Before the colonization of the Philippines, Tablas was known as the Island of ''Osigan''. At the time of contact with Westerners, ''Osigan'' had a population of two hundred and fifty people living in small villages. Wax was produced in this island. Odiongan, on the west central coast of the island, is a major port and the largest municipality of Romblon in terms of population. Sibuyan Island
Sibuyan is a crescent-shaped island, the second largest in an archipelago comprising Romblon Province, Philippines. Located in the namesake Sibuyan Sea, it has an area of and has a total population of 62,815 as of 2020 census.
