Anglo-Saxon Invasion Of Britain
The Anglo-Saxon settlement of Britain is the process which changed the language and culture of most of what became England from Romano-British to Germanic peoples, Germanic. The Germanic-speakers in Britain, themselves of diverse origins, eventually developed a common cultural identity as Anglo-Saxons. This process principally occurred from the mid-fifth to early seventh centuries, following the Roman withdrawal from Britain, end of Roman rule in Britain around the year 410. The settlement was followed by the establishment of the Heptarchy, Anglo-Saxon kingdoms in the south and east of Great Britain, Britain, later followed by the rest of modern England, and the south-east of modern Scotland. The available evidence includes the scant contemporary and near-contemporary written record, archaeological and genetic information. The few literary sources tell of hostility between incomers and natives. They describe violence, destruction, massacre, and the flight of the Romano-Britis ...

Diocese Of Dume
Dume is a former ''freguesia'' ("civil parish") and former bishopric in the municipality of Braga, northern Portugal, which remains a Catholic titular see. In 2013, the parish merged into the new parish Real, Dume e Semelhe. It has a population of 3 081 inhabitants and a total area of 4.34 km. History Dume enjoyed in earlier times a relief situation especially in the sixth century during the reign of Theodemar king of the Suebi. His father, Chararic, invoked Saint Martin of Tours, when Theodemar was affected by a disease in childhood. After obtaining the cure in 550, he founded a church in Dume and sent emissaries to Gaul in search of relics of the saint. By providential provision, the emissaries of the king met with Martin of Pannonia (later to be canonized and known as Martin of Dume), who was heading from Jerusalem to Gaul, to the tomb of his namesake and compatriot. That meeting showed him the place where it should go to exercise his apostolate, because until then ...

Province Of A Coruña
The province of A Coruña (; es, La Coruña ; historical en, link=no, Corunna) is the northwesternmost province of Spain, and one of the four provinces which constitute the autonomous community of Galicia. This province is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the west and north, Pontevedra Province to the south and Lugo Province to the east. History The history of this province starts at the end of the Middle Ages during the reign of the Catholic Monarchs of Spain. During those years this province was far smaller than today. This is because in the 1833 territorial division of Spain the entire Province of Betanzos together with half of the Mondoñedo were amalgamated into one single province with its capital city in A Coruña. Since 1833, the province has always been the one with the largest population and largest coast. Until the second half of the 20th century, this province was both the religious and cultural centre of the entire region. The University of Santiago de ...

Assumption Of Mary
The Assumption of Mary is one of the four Marian dogmas of the Catholic Church. Pope Pius XII defined it in 1950 in his apostolic constitution ''Munificentissimus Deus'' as follows: We proclaim and define it to be a dogma revealed by God that the immaculate Mother of God, Mary ever virgin, when the course of her earthly life was finished, was taken up body and soul into the glory of heaven. The declaration was built upon the 1854 dogma of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, which declared that Mary was conceived free from original sin, and both have their foundation in the concept of Mary as the Mother of God. It leaves open the question of whether Mary died or whether she was raised to eternal life without bodily death. The equivalent belief (but not held as dogma) in the Eastern Orthodox Church is the Dormition of the Mother of God or the "Falling Asleep of the Mother of God". The word 'assumption' derives from the Latin word ''assūmptiō'' meaning "taking up". T ...
