Rolf Gerhardsen
Rolf Eilert Gerhardsen (3 February 1902 – 21 November 1971) was a Norwegian journalist and leader of the Oslo branch of the Norwegian Labour Party. He was born in Oslo, Kristiania as a son of Gerhard Olsen (1867–1949) and Emma Hansen (1872–1949). He was a brother of Einar Gerhardsen, and through him an uncle of Rune Gerhardsen and granduncle of Mina Gerhardsen. He was a subeditor of ''Østfold Arbeiderblad'' and ''Sarpsborg Arbeiderblad'' from 1928 to 1934 and ''Vestfold Arbeiderblad'' from 1934 to 1940, and editor-in-chief of ''Den 1ste Mai'' in 1940. When the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany started, Gerhardsen fled to Sweden where he edited the publication ''Norges-Nytt'' at the Norwegian legation in Stockholm. After the Second World War he was a subeditor in ''Dagsavisen, Arbeiderbladet'' from 1945 to 1952 and news editor from 1952 to 1970. ''Norges-Nytt'' was a Norwegian language, Norwegian magazine issued in Stockholm from September 1941 by the Press Office of the Norwegian legation in Stockholm. It had a circulation of up to 40,000 copies. Among the editors of ''Norges-Nytt'' were journalists Jørgen Juve (until 1942) and Rolf Gerhardsen. The last issue was #24 published in 1945. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. The municipality of Oslo had a population of in 2022, while the city's greater urban area had a population of in 2019, and the metropolitan area had an estimated population of in 2021. During the Viking Age the area was part of Viken. Oslo was founded as a city at the end of the Viking Age in 1040 under the name Ánslo, and established as a ''kaupstad'' or trading place in 1048 by Harald Hardrada. The city was elevated to a bishopric in 1070 and a capital under Haakon V of Norway around 1300. Personal unions with Denmark from 1397 to 1523 and again from 1536 to 1814 reduced its influence.
