Rolando Pascua
Rolando Pascua (born Rolando Tomongtong; November 19, 1965) is a Filipino former professional boxer. He held the WBC light-flyweight title from 1990 to 1991 and challenged for the IBF super-flyweight title in 1993. Professional boxing career Pascua debuted as a professional boxer on August 3, 1986, outpointing Eddie Dulay after four rounds in Pasay. Pascua built a record of 14 wins without a loss, with 3 wins by knockout, before facing 18 wins, 1 loss Jum Hwan Choi at Choi's hometown of Seoul, South Korea on January 28, 1988. Despite dropping the local in round six, Pascua lost a ten-round split decision to lose his condition as an undefeated fighter. Light flyweight, also known as junior flyweight or super strawweight, is a Weight class (boxing), weight class in boxing. Professional boxing The weight limit at light flyweight in professional boxing is 108 pounds (49 kilograms). When New York (state), New York legalized boxing in 1920, the law stipulated a "junior flyweight" class, with a weight limit of 99 pounds. When the National Boxing Association was formed in 1921, it also recognized this weight class. However, on January 19, 1922, the NBA decided to withdraw recognition of the junior flyweight division. On December 31, 1929, the New York State Athletic Commission also abolished the junior flyweight class. No champion had been crowned in this division prior to its abolition. Hiroshi Kobayashi (boxer)
is a former professional boxer who held the world junior lightweight championship. Professional boxing career Kobayashi turned pro in 1962 and won the Lineal, WBC and WBA Super Featherweight Title in 1967 by defeating Yoshiaki Numata by 12th-round KO, in a bout where Numata was down once in the 6th and three times in the 12th round and thus Kobayashi becoming the undisputed Super Featherweight champion of the world. He was stripped of his WBA title after failing to fight Rene Barrientos. He defended the title six times before losing the belt to Alfredo Marcano in 1971. The Cuneta Astrodome is an indoor arena that is located in Pasay, Philippines. Diosdado "Dodie Boy" Peñalosa (born November 19, 1962) is a Filipino former professional boxer who won the IBF light flyweight and flyweight titles. Professional career Peñalosa won the Philippine light flyweight title on November 26, 1982 by a 12th round stoppage against Romy Austria. He defended it against Alfredo Guanzon on January 30, 1983 although the bout ended in a no-contest for unknown reasons. In 1983, he became the first IBF light flyweight champion with a technical knockout win over Satoshi Shingaki who would later become the inaugural IBF bantamweight champion. Melchor Cob Castro (born 18 April 1968 in Chiná, Campeche, Mexico) is a Mexican former professional boxer in the light flyweight (108 lb) division. Pro career Cob Castro turned pro in 1986 and captured the WBC light flyweight title in 1991 with a TKO win over Rolando Pascua.
