The Batman family enemies are a collection of supervillains appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. These characters are depicted as adversaries of the superhero Batman and his allies. Since Batman first appeared in '' Detective Comics'' #27 (May 1939), his supporting cast has expanded to include other superheroes, and has become what is now called the " Batman family". As with most superheroes, a cast of recurring enemies to the Batman family have been introduced throughout the years, collectively referred to as Batman's "rogues gallery". Many characters from Batman's rogues gallery who are criminally insane become patients at Arkham Asylum after they are apprehended. Firefly (DC Comics)
Firefly (Garfield Lynns) is a supervillain appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. Created by France Herron and Dick Sprang, he made his debut in ''Detective Comics'' #184 (June 1952). Initially portrayed as a criminal who utilized lighting effects to commit robberies, Firefly was later reimagined as a sociopathic pyromaniac with an obsessive compulsion to start fires following ''Crisis on Infinite Earths'' reboot of the DC Universe in the 1980s. Lew Schwartz
Lewis Sayre Schwartz (; July 24, 1926 – June 18, 2011) was an American comic book artist, advertising creator and filmmaker, credited as a ghost artist for Bob Kane on DC Comics '' Batman'' from 1946-47 through 1953, and with writer David Vern Reed, as co-creator of the villain Deadshot. Alongside Pablo Ferro and Fred Mogubgub, he was cofounder of Ferro, Mogubgub and Schwartz in 1961, a film company whose work includes the credits to Stanley Kubrick's ''Dr. Strangelove''. Schwartz was a teacher at the School of Visual Arts during the early 1960s. He produced a film about Milton Caniff in 1981. He was the recipient of an Inkpot Award in 2002, and four Emmy Awards. David Vern Reed
David Vern Reed (born David Levine; 13 December 1914 – 11 August 1994), was an American writer, best known for his work on the '' Batman'' comic book during the 1950s in a run that included a revamp of the Batplane in ''Batman'' #61 and the introduction of Deadshot in ''Batman'' #59 (July 1950). Biography Born David Levine in New York City in 1914, David Vern Reed grew up to become a writer, with his work appearing under several Anglicized pseudonyms, amongst them David Vern, Coram Nobis, Alexander Blade, Craig Ellis, Clyde Woodruff, and Peter Horn. In the 1940s, he wrote such science fiction stories as the novella "The Metal Monster Murders" in ''Mammoth Detective'' (vol. 3) #4 (Nov. 1944). He was hired to write comic book scripts by his friend, Julius Schwartz, an editor at DC Comics. Deadshot
Deadshot (Floyd Lawton) is a supervillain and antihero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. Created by David Vern Reed, Lew Schwartz and Bob Kane, the character made his first appearance in '' Batman'' #59 (June–July 1950). The character was modernized with the popular look he is now known for in ''Detective Comics'' #474 by Steve Englehart, Marshall Rogers and Terry Austin. He is an excellent sniper who regularly boasts of never missing a shot, and is often considered one of the deadliest assassins in the DC Universe. Deadshot is primarily an adversary of the superhero Batman and belongs to the collection of enemies that make up his rogues gallery, though he has also come into conflict with other heroes, such as Green Arrow.
