Rogers City, MI
Rogers City is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,827 at the 2010 United States Census, 2010 census. It is the county seat of Presque Isle County, Michigan, Presque Isle County. The city is adjacent to Rogers Township, Michigan, Rogers Township, but is politically independent. Rogers City is located on Lake Huron and is home to two salmon fishing tournaments. The world's largest open-pit limestone quarry, the Port of Calcite, is located within the city limits and is one of the largest shipping ports on the Great Lakes. The Cargo ship, freighter, , home port at Rogers City, sank in Lake Michigan on November 18, 1958. There were two survivors while 33 lost their lives. 26 of the 33 deceased were from Rogers City, with the others from nearby towns. Fiftieth anniversary memorial activities took place in 2008.
