Minnesota Golden Gophers Wrestling
The Minnesota Golden Gophers are a Division I college wrestling team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They are a member of the Big Ten Conference and NCAA. Wrestling began at the University of Minnesota in 1910, but the first formal dual meet was not until 1921 when coach Frank Gilman led the team to a victory over Wisconsin. North Dakota State Bison Wrestling
The North Dakota State Bison wrestling team represents North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota. The Bison currently compete in the Big 12 Conference and play their home duals at the Scheels Center. NDSU is currently coached by Roger Kish. History North Dakota State wrestling began in 1957 when head coach Tom Neuberger led the team to victory in their first dual meet against Valley City State University. Schalles Award
Established in 1999, both Schalles awards, one (the Schalles Award) for the best collegiate pinner in America and the other, (the Junior Schalles Award) for the best scholastic pinner, are annually presented by WIN Magazine, Cliff Keen Athletics and the NWCA. The award is named after Wade Schalles, one of American wrestling's most storied pinners and a Distinguished Member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. Arthur "Bucky" Maughan is an American wrestler. He is a distinguished member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and former head coach of the wrestling team at North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota, where he has been head coach since 1964. Obe Blanc (born May 17, 1985) is an American amateur wrestler who competed at 57 kg in freestyle wrestling for the United States of America. Biography High School and College Blanc wrestled for Lely High School in Naples, Florida during his high school career. He was a Florida high school state champion and was ranked 6th in the nation by Amateur Wrestling News during his senior season. After high school, Blanc attended Lock Haven University, where he placed sixth at 125 pounds at the 2007 NCAA Wrestling National Championships, earning him All-American honors.
