Roger Blunt
Roger Charles Blunt (3 November 1900 – 22 June 1966) was a cricketer who played nine Test matches for the New Zealand national cricket team. Personal life Blunt was born in England, but his family moved to New Zealand when he was six months old. His father, a graduate of Christ Church, Oxford, was a professor at Canterbury College in Christchurch. Blunt was educated at Christ's College, Christchurch, where he captained the First XI cricket team. Early career A batsman and leg-spinner, Blunt began his first-class career at 17 on Christmas Day 1917 for Canterbury against Otago at Christchurch, taking six wickets. He was a prolific batsman in domestic cricket throughout the 1920s. He was the leading run-maker in the 1922–23 season, scoring 583 first-class runs at an average of 53.00, helping Canterbury to win the Plunket Shield. He moved from Christchurch to Dunedin in 1926. Durham, England
Durham ( , locally ), is a cathedral city and civil parish on the River Wear, County Durham, England. It is an administrative centre of the County Durham District, which is a successor to the historic County Palatine of Durham (which is different to both the ceremonial county and district of County Durham). The settlement was founded over the final resting place of St Cuthbert. Julien Cahn
Sir Julien Cahn, 1st Baronet (21 October 1882 – 26 September 1944) was a British businessman, philanthropist and cricket enthusiast. Early life and family Cahn was born in Cardiff in 1882 to parents of German Jewish descent. His father, Albert Cahn (1856–1921), was born in the small village of Russheim in the Germersheim (district), Germersheim district, Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis. He married Matilda Lewis (d. 1921), daughter of Dr Sigismund Lewis of Liverpool, who had also emigrated from Germany. Dr Lewis delivered his grandson after a difficult birth; Matilda recovered well but Julien would be an only child. Julien grew up in a strict Orthodox Judaism, Orthodox household in Nottingham, where his father opened the Nottingham Furnishing Company in 1885. ''Wisden Cricketers' Almanack'', or simply ''Wisden'', colloquially the Bible of Cricket, is a cricket reference book published annually in the United Kingdom. The description "bible of cricket" was first used in the 1930s by Alec Waugh in a review for the ''London Mercury''.
