Luis Yordán Dávila
Luis Leoncio Yordán Dávila (12 September 1869 – 29 December 1932) was an attorney and Mayor of Ponce, Puerto Rico, from 1917 to 1918. Origin Some sources state Yordan Davila was born in Guayanilla while others state he was born in Ponce. Either way he appears to have been born on 12 September 1869, the son of Ramon Yordan Gonzalez and Cruz Davila Torres. Family life Yordán Dávila married Angela Pasarell Pasarell. Their children were Luis Angel Yordan Pasarell, Rafael A. Yordan Pasarell, Oriol Yordan Pasarell, Belise Yordan Pasarell, and Jorge A. Yordan Pasarell. Career Yordán Dávila was a member of the House of Representatives of Puerto Rico. He was also president of the local chapter of the American Red Cross during World War I. He also presided the committee for the erection of the Luis Munoz Rivera statue on Plaza Las Delicias in Ponce. In 1905 he was the fiscal commanding officer at the Ponce Firefighters Corps. This is a list of mayors of Ponce, Puerto Rico's southern economic center, the island's second largest and second most important city. From 1692 to 1840, the office of mayor in Ponce was filled either by local hacendados or by military officers appointed by the governor, depending on whether the political situation on Spain at the time was that of a constitutional or an absolutist government. From 1840 to 1870, mayors were oftentimes elected by the municipal council, whose members were called ''regidores''. In 1870, political parties were created for the first time and municipal officials were elected by the people at large, and the mayor, as well as the members of the municipal council, would belong to one of the two parties active, either the Partido Liberal Reformista or the Partido Incondicional Español. Magueyes is one of the 31 barrios of the municipality of Ponce, Puerto Rico. Together with Cerrillos, Machuelo Arriba, Maragüez, Montes Llanos, Portugués, Sabanetas, and Tibes, Magueyes is one of the municipality's eight interior barrios. The name of this barrio is of native Indian origin. It was created in 1831. History Magueyes is one of the oldest barrios in Ponce. It is home to Hacienda Buena Vista, dating from 1833. The word ''Magueyes'' is the plural form of the word Maguey which is a word of Taino origin. Francisco Parra Capó (20 December 1871 – ca. 1945) was a Puerto Rican attorney, politician, and Mayor of Ponce, Puerto Rico, from 1921 to 1923. Early years Francisco Parra Capó was born in Ponce in 1867, the son of Francisco Parra Duperón and Eufemia Constanza Capó Ortiz de la Renta Bermudas. Professional life In 1900 he was elected to the Puerto Rico House of Delegates for the district of Ponce and served until the end of his term in 1902. In 1919, he worked as the ''Archivero General'' (Archivist-in-Chief) for the Ponce District. He became an attorney and joined his father's law firm in Ponce. The law firm, known as ''Parra, del Valle & Limeres'', operated until 2016 from the Banco de Ponce Building. At the time of its closing, it was the oldest law firm in Puerto Rico. Isabela () is a town and municipality of Puerto Rico located in the north-western region of the island, north of San Sebastián; west of Quebradillas; and east of Aguadilla and Moca.
