Rodda Company Arms Heist
The Rodda company arms heist took place on 26 August 1914 in Calcutta, British India. Members of the ''Jugantar'' faction of the Bengali revolutionary organisation ''Anushilan Samiti'' intercepted a shipment of Mauser Pistols and ammunition belonging to Messrs Rodda & co., a Calcutta gun dealer, while these were en route from the Customs house to the company's godown, and were able to make away with a portion the arms. In Bengal, the revolutionaries achieved a major success in August 1914, when a large consignment of 50 Mauser pistols and 46,000 rounds of ammunition was appropriated by them from the Rodda firm in Calcutta through a sympathetic employee. The heist was a sensational incident, being described by ''The Statesman'' as the "Greatest daylight robbery". In the following years, the pistols and ammunitions were linked to almost all the incidences of nationalist struggles in Bengal. By 1922, the police had recovered most of the stolen arms. Naren Bhattacharya
Manabendra Nath Roy (born Narendra Nath Bhattacharya, better known as M. N. Roy; 21 March 1887 – 25 January 1954) was an Indian revolutionary, radical activist and political theorist, as well as a noted philosopher in the 20th century. Roy was the founder of the Mexican Communist Party and the Communist Party of India (Tashkent group). He was also a delegate to congresses of the Communist International and Russia's aide to China. Haridas Dutta
Haridas Dutta (16 November 1890 — 29 February 1976) was a Bengali revolutionary involved with Rodda company arms heist case. Early life Dutta was born in 1890 in Dhaka, British India. He came in contact with senior Bengali revolutionary Hemchandra Ghosh and joined in Mukti Sangha. In 1912, Dutta and Khagendra Nath Das entered into Alexander Jute Mill near Jagatdal as labour and worked there for three months to assassinate a British engineer. But they failed and fled away from there. Rodda arms heist While Shrish Chandra Mitra alias ''Habu'' informed about the consignment of arms and ammunition of the Radda Company, activists Bipin Behari Ganguli, Bagha Jatin, Anukul Mukherjee and others planned to rob this.
