Rock Express Top 100 Yugoslav Rock Songs Of All Times
100 najboljih pesama svih vremena YU rocka (''Top 100 Yugoslav Rock Songs of All Times'') was a list compiled by the Serbian music magazine '' Rock Express''. In 1999, ''Rock Express'' started the poll for the selection of top 100 Yugoslav rock songs. The whole list was published in the 25th issue of ''Rock Express'', in 2000. The list contains rock music songs from Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and the songs from successor states. The list Voting Every voter chose five songs, each of them receiving a vote. Audience More than 3400 readers took a part in the poll. Readers from FR Yugoslavia and other SFR Yugoslavia successor states, as well as from other countries took a part in the poll. Journalists 120 journalists and music critics from FR Yugoslav media took a part in the poll. Musicians 100 musicians took a part in the poll. Azra
Azra was a Croatian and Yugoslav rock band that was one of the most popular acts of the Yugoslav new wave music of the 1980s. Azra was formed in 1977 by its frontman Branimir "Johnny" Štulić. The other two members of the original line-up were Mišo Hrnjak ( bass) and Boris Leiner (drums). The band is named after a verse "''Und der Sklave sprach: “Ich heiße Mohamet, ich bin aus Yemen, Und mein Stamm sind jene Asra, Welche sterben, wenn sie lieben.”''" (trans. Indexi was a Bosnian and former Yugoslav rock band popular in Yugoslavia. It formed in 1962 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and disbanded in 2001 when singer Davorin Popović died. Some of their most notable songs are "Svijet u kome živim" and "Negdje u kraju, u zatišju" with lyrics by Želimir Altarac Čičak, "Plima", "Sve ove godine", "Sanjam" and "Bacila je sve niz rijeku", which was later covered by many other ex-Yugoslavian groups, notably Crvena jabuka. Indexi formed in 1962, and their name was derived from the "Indeks" which was a student's grade log. They began by making instrumental covers of popular hits, but in 1967 started composing. ''YU Grupa'' is the debut studio album from Serbian and former Yugoslav rock band YU Grupa, released in 1973. The album was polled in 1998 as the 62nd on the list of 100 greatest Yugoslav rock and pop albums in the book '' YU 100: najbolji albumi jugoslovenske rok i pop muzike'' (''YU 100: The Best albums of Yugoslav pop and rock music''). Partibrejkers (Serbian Cyrillic: Партибрејкерс, transliteration for: ''Partybreakers'') is a Serbian rock band from Belgrade, as well as one of the most acclaimed acts of the Yugoslav rock scene.
