RockNess 2012
RockNess 2012 was the seventh RockNess Festival to take place. It took place between 8–10 June 2012. On 5 July 2011 it was announced that the first 3000 people to complete an online survey on the 2011 event would be guaranteed to get their 2012 weekend tickets for a special £99 launch price. Due to an overwhelming response the offer was opened up to everyone and a limited amount of earlybird tickets were made available through the official website for £99 or in three installments of £33. On 3 October 2011 at 9am the earlybird ticket offer ended, ticket prices were increased to an interim price of £125. The lineup for the 2012 event was announced on 26 January 2012. Porter Robinson
Porter Weston Robinson (born July 15, 1992) is an American DJ, record producer, musician, and singer from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Robinson began producing music in his childhood. He signed to Skrillex's record label Owsla, OWSLA at the age of 18, and released the extended play Spitfire (EP), ''Spitfire'' in 2011. He appeared on ''Billboard'''s 21 Under 21 list in 2012. Robinson's debut full-length studio album, Worlds (Porter Robinson album), ''Worlds'', was released in 2014 and peaked at number one on ''Billboard (magazine), Billboard''’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums. Riton (musician)
Henry Smithson (born 13 September 1978), best known by his stage name Riton ( ), is an English electronic music DJ and producer from Newcastle upon Tyne. Early life and education Smithson was born in Newcastle upon Tyne. The name ''Riton'' is French slang for "Henry". He graduated from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. Career After finishing university, Smithson started the Switch Recordings label, upon which he released his first two 12" singles. He began DJing at Newcastle's "Shindig" nightclub. There, he was discovered by Mark Rae and signed to Grand Central Records independent record label. Like Rae, he then worked in Manchester's Fat City Records label/distribution/retail outlet. The Internet is an American alternative R&B band from Los Angeles, California. It consists of vocalist Syd, keyboardist Matt Martians, bassist Patrick Paige II, drummer Christopher Smith, and guitarist Steve Lacy. Their music is a blend of R&B, hip hop, jazz, funk, and electronic dance music. They have released four studio albums and three extended plays since their formation in late 2011. The Correspondents (band)
The Correspondents were a British electro swing duo based in London, formed by vocalist and MC Mr. Bruce and producer Tim Cole in 2007. Their music has been described as electro swing with a mixture of early 20th century jazz and electro and drum and bass. Their live shows and recorded music consisted of multi-genre dance music spanning blues, jazz, soul, funk and out and out electro pop. The band played at major festivals such as WOMAD, Glastonbury, Bestival, Boomtown and Secret Garden Party. Their song "Fear and Delight" was used as the theme tune to BBC Three comedy ''Crims''. The project was retired on 20 October 2020 after Bruce published a status on The Correspondents' Facebook page stating that Cole had died unexpectedly of a pulmonary embolism a few days prior. Jermaine Sinclaire Scott (born 9 March 1985), better known by his stage name Wretch 32, is a British rapper, singer and songwriter from Tottenham, North London. He was a member of the grime collective Combination Chain Gang, before forming The Movement with Scorcher, Ghetts, and Mercston. Étienne Bernard Marie de Crécy (, born 25 February 1969, Lyon, France), also known as Superdiscount, EDC, Minos Pour Main Basse and Mooloodjee, is a French DJ and producer who composes electronic music, primarily house. Little Comets
Little Comets are an English indie rock trio from Jarrow and Washington, Tyne and Wear. They are described as playing "kitchen sink indie" music. In early 2009 the band were signed to Columbia Records following numerous gigs in strange locations such as lecture theatres and various modes of public transport and support from DJ Huw Stephens. After departing their major record label they released their début album, ''In Search of Elusive Little Comets'', on 31 January 2011. Kassidy
Kassidy are a Scottish alternative folk rock band. The band consist of Barrie-James O'Neill (vocals, piano and guitar), Hamish Fingland (vocals and guitar), Lewis Andrew (vocals, guitar, accordion and keyboard) and Chris Potter (vocals and guitar). The band was formed in late 2009 in Glasgow. The quartet met through friends' bands and fortunate pub encounters. Kassidy began writing and recording their music in a share house, which they later converted to a personal studio. Chic ( ), currently called Nile Rodgers & Chic, is an American band that was formed in 1972 by guitarist Nile Rodgers and bassist Bernard Edwards.
