Rock-O-Rama Records
Rock-O-Rama Records was a Cologne-based German independent record label that operated between 1980 and 1994, established and run by Herbert Egoldt. Though initially dedicated to releasing and distributing left-wing or apolitical German and international punk and hardcore, Rock-O-Rama became a leading label for white power rock and Rock Against Communism from the middle of the 1980s. Following a 1993 police raid, Egoldt closed the label in 1994 under the threat of legal action from German authorities. History Herbert Egoldt began his career in music distribution in the 1970s, selling bootlegged American rockabilly recordings via a mail order service called Big-H. In 1978, Egoldt opened a record store in Cologne to serve the burgeoning punk scene under the name Rock-O-Rama. Two years later, Rock-O-Rama moved into music production and publishing when members of Frankfurt punk band Vomit Visions persuaded Egoldt to issue their first single, "Punks Are the Old Farts of Today" (1980). ... Neo-Nazism comprises the post–World War II militant, social, and political movements that seek to revive and reinstate Nazi ideology. Christian Marco Picciolini (born November 3, 1973) is an American former extremist who is the founder of the Free Radicals Project, a global network working to prevent extremism and help people disengage from hate movements. He is the author of a memoir, ''Romantic Violence: Memoirs of an American Skinhead'', which details his time as a leader of the white power movement in the U.S. An updated version of the story was published in 2017, titled ''White American Youth: My Descent into America's Most Violent Hate Movement--and How I Got Out.'' His book ''Breaking Hate: Confronting the New Culture of Extremism'' (2020) looks at how extremists recruit the vulnerable to their causes. Brutal Verschimmelt
Brutal Verschimmelt (BV, literally "brutally moldy", ) was a German punk band from Kempten (Allgäu). In 1983 they released an album by Rock-O-Rama. In 1980 Carlo Kallen, with some high school friends, founded his first band Adolf Streit & die NS-Verbrecher, which then became Psychorotz and then Brutal Verschimmelt. First concerts happened in Allgäu in the vicinity of the band B.Trug which, being the older punks, pulled the younger ones with them. B.Trug had at that time a record contract with the punk label Rock-O-Rama from Brühl and referred also Brutal Verschimmelt to that label. A demo recording was sent to Herbert Egoldt who gave the band a contract. Egoldt invited the band in May 1983 to Köln where they recorded their debut album in 16 hours. Egoldt himself produced the vinyl record. A cover draft showing an anti-war collage was rejected by Egoldt and substituted with a skeleton warrior with a mohawk fighting some kind of monster. Combat 84
Combat 84 were an English punk rock band active during the early 1980s. Formed in 1981 in Chelsea, London by skinheads 'Chubby' Chris Henderson and 'Deptford' John Armitage, Combat 84 rose to national prominence after being featured in a controversial 1982 BBC ''Arena'' documentary about the skinhead movement. Career The band was originally composed of Chris Henderson (vocals), 'Deptford' John Armitage (bass guitar), Jim (guitar) and Brownie (drums) and played their first gig supporting The Last Resort at the Walmer Castle, Peckham. The Last Resort's lead singer, Roi Pearce (later of The 4-Skins) liked the band and agreed to produce a two-song demo tape with them. These sessions resulted in the songs "Soldier" and "Combat 84", which were favourably received in the music press, leading to the band being described as 'the new Sham 69'. Brühl (Rhineland)
Brühl () is a town in the Rhineland, Germany. It is located in the district of Rhine-Erft, 20 km south of the Cologne city center and at the edge of the Rhineland Nature Park, a famous nature reserve. History Brühl received its town privileges in 1285. From 1567 on, the city of Brühl was the official residence of the Prince Bishops of Cologne. In the 18th century the Prince Bishop Clemens August replaced a former ruined castle and built the Augustusburg and Falkenlust palaces near the city center. Hoyerswerda Riots
The Hoyerswerda riots were Xenophobia, xenophobic riots that lasted from 17 to 23 September 1991 in Hoyerswerda, a town in the north-east of Saxony, Germany. The riots started with a group of mainly young neo-Nazism, neo-Nazis attacking Vietnamese people, Vietnamese Hawker (trade), street hawkers. After the intervention of the police, a hostel used mainly by Mozambique, Mozambican contract workers came under attack. In the following night, further riots took place in Hoyerswerda and foreigners were hurt. On the fourth night, stones and petrol bombs were thrown at an apartment block in Thomas-Müntzer-Straße that housed asylum seekers. During the clashes, 32 people were hurt and 83 were arrested. After the incidents, the Saxony government evacuated the asylum seekers from Thomas-Müntzer-Straße and many contract workers left the town.
