In 2023, it was merged with La Morandière to from the new Municipality of La Morandière-Rochebaucourt. History In 1935 as part of the Vautrin Settlement Plan, the place was colonized by pioneers from Saint-Antoine-sur-Richelieu, Saint-Hyacinthe, and Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. It was first known as Colonie-33 but this was quickly replaced by Rochebaucourt, the name of the geographic township in which it is located. La Rochebaucourt was a cavalry captain of the Régiment de Languedoc in Louis-Joseph de Montcalm, General Montcalm's army. In 1940, the Parish of Saint-Antoine-de-Rochebaucourt was established. The 2016 Canadian census was an enumeration of Canadian residents, which counted a population of 35,151,728, a change from its 2011 population of 33,476,688. The census, conducted by Statistics Canada, was Canada's seventh quinquennial census. The official census day was May 10, 2016. Census web access codes began arriving in the mail on May 2, 2016. The 2016 census marked the reinstatement of the mandatory long-form census, which had been dropped in favour of the voluntary National Household Survey for the 2011 census. With a response rate of 98.4%, this census is said to be the best one ever recorded since the 1666 census of New France. This census was succeeded by Canada's 2021 census. Louis-Joseph De Montcalm
Louis-Joseph de Montcalm-Grozon, Marquis de Montcalm de Saint-Veran (28 February 1712 – 14 September 1759) was a French soldier best known as the commander of the forces in North America during the Seven Years' War (whose North American theatre is also referred to as the French and Indian War). Montcalm was born near Nîmes in France to a noble family, and entered military service early in life. He saw service in the War of the Polish Succession and the War of the Austrian Succession, where his distinguished service led to promotion to brigadier general. In 1756 King Louis XV sent him to New France to lead its defence against the British in the Seven Years' War. Régiment De Languedoc
The Régiment de Languedoc was a French Army regiment active in the 18th century. It is principally known for its role in the Seven Years' War, when it served in the French and Indian War, North American theatre. History The regiment arrived in Quebec City June 19, 1755. These soldiers left immediately for Fort Saint Frédéric, and on the orders of Jean Erdman, Baron Dieskau, Dieskau, push back the British troops to Lake George (lake), New York, Lake George. After Battle of Lake George, the battle, the regiment was sent to Fort Carillon, then under construction. The regiment was then sent towards the south and participated in the Siege of Fort William Henry. On July 8, 1758, the second battalion participated at the Battle of Carillon.
