Robert Stumper
Nicolas Camille Robert Stümper (21 January 1895 – 15 April 1977), commonly known as Robert Stumper, was a Luxembourgish, chemist and myrmecologist. In his youth he played football for SC Luxembourg and made one appearance for the national team in 1913. His work on the parasitic ''Tetramorium inquilinum'' ant is particularly important as his studies of three colonies provide the basis of much of the current knowledge of the species. His works in chemistry included papers relating to iron. Stumper was detained by the Nazis during the Second World War and in its aftermath was appointed to Luxembourg's Consultative Assembly. Football Stumper was born in Grevenmacher in eastern Luxembourg on 21 January 1895. He played football for SC Luxembourg. On 20 April 1913 he was called up to play his only game for the Luxembourg national football team as a goalkeeper. Hinzert Concentration Camp
Hinzert was a concentration camp in Nazi Germany, in what is now Rhineland-Palatinate, from the border with Luxembourg. Between 1939 and 1945, 13,600 political prisoners between the ages of 13 and 80 were imprisoned at Hinzert. Many were in transit towards larger concentration camps where most would be killed. However, many prisoners were executed at Hinzert. The camp was administered, run, and guarded mainly by the SS, who, according to Hinzert survivors, were notorious for their brutality and viciousness. Location and layout Located on the ''Hochwald'' plateau, and overlooking the Hunsrück mountain range, the Hinzert concentration camp was named after the nearest village, now called Hinzert-Pölert. At an altitude of 550m, the plateau is exposed to much humidity, wind, strong precipitation, fog and glacial temperatures in winter. Bert Hölldobler
Berthold Karl Hölldobler (born 25 June 1936) is a German sociobiologist and evolutionary biologist who studies evolution and social organization in ants. He is the author of several books, including ''The Ants'', for which he and his co-author, E. O. Wilson received the Pulitzer Prize for non-fiction writing in 1991. Life Hölldobler was born June 25, 1936, in Erling-Andechs, Bavaria, Germany, the son of Karl and Maria Hölldobler. He studied biology and chemistry at the University of Würzburg. Charlotte, Grand Duchess Of Luxembourg
Charlotte (Charlotte Adelgonde Elisabeth Marie Wilhelmine; 23 January 1896 – 9 July 1985) reigned as Grand Duchess of Luxembourg from 14 January 1919 until her abdication on 12 November 1964. She acceded to the throne on 14 January 1919 following the abdication of her sister, Marie-Adélaïde, due to political pressure over Marie-Adélaïde's role during the German occupation of Luxembourg during World War I. A referendum retained the monarchy with Charlotte as grand duchess. She married Prince Felix of Bourbon-Parma on 6 November 1919. They had six children. Following the 1940 German invasion of Luxembourg during World War II, Charlotte went into exile: first in France, then Portugal, Great Britain, and North America. While in Britain, she made broadcasts to the people of Luxembourg. She returned to Luxembourg in April 1945. She abdicated in 1964, and was succeeded by her son Jean.
