Robert McGarry IV
Robert McGarry IV (born November 15, 1985, at Stillwater, Minnesota) is a former American football player. As a senior at Stillwater High School, he recorded 65 tackles and was selected as an all-conference defensive lineman. He enrolled at the University of Minnesota where he played football as a long snapper from 2005 to 2008. He played in all 12 games for the Gophers in his freshman and sophomore years and all 13 games as a junior. McGarry was also selected as a member of the All-Big Ten academic teams. In 37 games from his freshman to junior years, McGarry executed 350 play without an errant snap. American football (referred to simply as football in the United States and Canada), also known as gridiron, is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. Stillwater Area High School
Stillwater Area High School (SAHS) is a public school located in Oak Park Heights, Minnesota, United States. It serves as the primary high school for the Stillwater Area Public School District (834), the oldest public school district in Minnesota. The current campus was built in 1993 thanks to a 28 million dollar bond that was approved by the citizens of District 834. The previous location is now Stillwater Middle School. (SMS). In American football, the long snapper (or deep snapper) is a center on special teams whose duty is to snap the football over a longer distance, typically around 15 yards during punts, and 7–8 yards during field goals and extra point attempts. Overview During field goal and point after touchdown attempts, the snap is received by the holder, typically 7–8 yards away. During punts, the snap is delivered to the punter from 13–15 yards away.
