Robert Joseph Bandoni
Robert Joseph Bandoni (11 November 1926 – 5 May 2009) was a mycologist who specialized on the taxonomy and morphology of the heterobasidiomycetes (“jelly fungi”). During his 50 years as professor at the University of British Columbia, he wrote over 80 scientific publications as well as several books. He was awarded the title of Professor Emeritus in 1989. In 1990 the Canadian Botanical Association awarded him the George Lawson Medal. Bandoni died on May 18, 2009, in Vancouver, British Columbia, after suffering a stroke. Biography Robert "Bob" Joseph Bandoni was born November 9, 1926 in Weeks, Nevada to Giuseppe and Albina Bandoni. He went to high school in Hawthorne, Nevada and received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Nevada in 1953. He then studied under George Willard Martin at the University of Iowa and received his Ph.D. in 1957. The title of his thesis was: "Taxonomic studies of the genus ''Tremella'' (Tremellaceae). That same year, he received the ...

Nevada
Nevada ( ; ) is a state in the Western region of the United States. It is bordered by Oregon to the northwest, Idaho to the northeast, California to the west, Arizona to the southeast, and Utah to the east. Nevada is the 7th-most extensive, the 32nd-most populous, and the 9th-least densely populated of the U.S. states. Nearly three-quarters of Nevada's people live in Clark County, which contains the Las Vegas–Paradise metropolitan area, including three of the state's four largest incorporated cities. Nevada's capital is Carson City. Las Vegas is the largest city in the state. Nevada is officially known as the "Silver State" because of the importance of silver to its history and economy. It is also known as the "Battle Born State" because it achieved statehood during the Civil War (the words "Battle Born" also appear on its state flag); as the " Sagebrush State", for the native plant of the same name; and as the " Sage-hen State". The name means "snowy" in Spanish, re ...

Bullera Salicina
''Bullera'' is a genus of fungi in the family Bulleraceae. The genus, which comprises both anamorphic and teleomorphic forms, formerly contained some 35 species. Molecular research, based on cladistic analysis of DNA sequences, has however assigned most of these species elsewhere and reduced the genus ''Bullera'' to just four species. Anamorphic forms are yeasts; teleomorphic forms (formerly referred to ''Bulleromyces'') produce septate basidia resembling those of ''Tremella'' species, but are not known to produce basidiocarps (fruit bodies). The genus name of ''Bullera'' is in honour of Arthur Henry Reginald Buller Arthur Henry Reginald Buller, (19 August 1874 – 3 July 1944) was a British-Canadian mycologist.
