Robert Jackson Bennett
Robert Jackson Bennett (born 1984) is an American writer of speculative fiction. Early life and education Robert Jackson Bennett was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He graduated from the University of Texas with special honors in English in 2005, and settled down in Austin, Texas. Career Bennett's debut as an author was the novel '' Mr. Shivers'' (2010). He went on to write '' The Company Man'' (2011), '' The Troupe'' (2012), and '' American Elsewhere'' (2013). Bennett's fifth novel, '' City of Stairs'' (2014), was the first of a fantasy trilogy, '' The Divine Cities'', followed by ''City of Blades'' (2016) and ''City of Miracles'' (2017). ''The Divine Cities'' was nominated for Best Series by the Hugo Awards in 2018, but lost to ''World of the Five Gods'' by Lois McMaster Bujold. Texas Book Festival
The Texas Book Festival is a free annual book fair held in Austin, Texas. The festival takes place in late October or early November. It is one of the top book festivals in the United States. Beginnings The festival was established in 1995 by Laura Bush, then the First Lady of Texas, and Mary Margaret Farabee, wife of former State Senator Ray Farabee. The festival was initially created to benefit the state's public library system, promotes the joy of reading, and honor Texas authors. Broadway Books, an imprint of the Crown Publishing Group, a Division of Random House, Inc., released its first list in Fall, 1996. Broadway was founded in 1995 as a unit of Bantam Doubleday Dell a unit of Bertelsmann. Orbit Books is an international publisher that specialises in science fiction and fantasy books. It is a division of Lagardère Publishing. History It was founded in 1974 as part of the Macdonald Futura publishing company. In 1992, its parent company was bought by Little, Brown & Co., at that stage part of the Time Warner Book Group.
