Robert J. Osterhaus
Robert J. Osterhaus (born January 30, 1931) is an American politician in the state of Iowa. Osterhaus was born in Dyersville, Iowa. He attended the University of Iowa and is a pharmacist. A Democrat, he served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 1995 to 2005 (34th district from 1995 to 2003 and 25th district from 2003 to 2005). The Iowa House of Representatives is the lower house of the Iowa General Assembly, the upper house being the Iowa Senate. There are 100 seats in the Iowa House of Representatives, representing 100 single-member districts across the state, formed by dividing the 50 Senate districts in half. Each district has a population of approximately 30,464 . The House of Representatives meets at the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines. Unlike the upper house, the Iowa Senate, state House representatives serve two-year terms with the whole chamber up for re-election in even-numbered years. There are no term limits for the House. Dyersville, Iowa
Dyersville is a city in eastern Delaware County and western Dubuque County in the U.S. state of Iowa. It is part of the Dubuque, Iowa, Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 4,477 at the time of the 2020 census, up from 4,035 in 2000. History Dyersville was laid out in 1851. It was named for early landowner James Dyer (1820-1864). Dyer immigrated from Banwell, England and established a hotel, The Clarendon, in 1857. His sons, James Andrew Dyer with 6th Iowa Cavalry Regiment and Henry Andrew Dyer with 21st Iowa Infantry Regiment, served in the United States Civil War.
