Robert Hudson (actor)
Robert Hudson (born 24 February 1960 in Sheffield) is an English actor. He is most famous for his role as PC Tony (Yorkie) Smith in the ITV police procedural television series ''The Bill''. He played the role from 1984 until 1989, and made two subsequent guest appearances in 1990 and 1991. He has also appeared in many other television programmes, including '' Bad Girls'', ''Coronation Street'', ''Dalziel and Pascoe'', ''Doctors'', ''Emmerdale'' and ''Peak Practice'', as well as films such as '' Mike Bassett: England Manager'' (2001). ''Doctors'' is a British medical soap opera, first broadcast on BBC One on 26 March 2000. Set in the fictional West Midlands town of Letherbridge, the soap follows the lives of the staff of both an NHS doctor's surgery and a university campus surgery, as well as the lives of their families and friends. The role of an England national football team manager was first established in 1946 with the appointment of Walter Winterbottom. Before this, the England national football team was selected by the "International Selection Committee", a process in which the Football Association (FA) would select coaches and trainers from the league to prepare the side for single games, but where all decisions ultimately remained under the control of the committee. ''Peak Practice'' is a British drama series about a GP surgery in Cardale—a small fictional town in the Derbyshire Peak District—and the doctors who worked there. It ran on ITV from 10 May 1993 to 30 January 2002 and was one of their most successful series at the time. It originally starred Kevin Whately as Dr Jack Kerruish, Amanda Burton as Dr Beth Glover and Simon Shepherd as Dr Will Preston, though the roster of doctors would change many times over the course of the series.
