Rob Reep
Robert "Rob" Gregg Reep, Jr. (born June 1, 1988) is an American historian, filmmaker, and documentary narrator. Early life In the fall of 2006, Reep began his freshman year at Arkansas State University. He graduated with honors in history as a member of Phi Alpha Theta and earned a bachelor's degree in history in December 2009, having studied history under the guidance of Dr. Joseph Key, Dr. William Maynard, and Dr. Gina Hogue. Reep interned in the Washington, D.C. office of Mike Ross (politician), Congressman Mike Ross during the summer of 2007. Professional life Reep was appointed in late 2011 to serve on the Arkansas State University History Department Advisory Council. He directed and narrated ''Timber: A Heritage of Dreams and Determination'' in 2012. He also narrated a short classroom use documentary film about the Japanese internment camps of Jerome and Rohwer during World War II titled, ''Singled Out''. Narrator
Narration is the use of a written or spoken commentary to convey a story to an audience. Arkansas State University
Arkansas ( ) is a landlocked state in the South Central United States. Phi Alpha Theta
Phi Alpha Theta () is an American honor society for undergraduate and graduate students and professors of history. It has more than 400,000 members, with new members numbering about 9,000 a year through its 970 chapters. Founding Phi Alpha Theta was established on March 17, 1921, at the University of Arkansas by Professor Nels Cleven. Cleven had become convinced in his time at the university that a fraternity of scholars (which would accept men or women) was important for the study of history. He invited students to a meeting to form the society (then called the "University Historical Society") on March 14, and the society was officially recognized on the 17th. In April, the decision was made for the society to be known by the Greek letters Phi Alpha Theta. These letters may refer to the words "philia," "anthropos," and "theos." Mike Ross (politician)
Michael Avery Ross (born August 2, 1961) is an American businessman and politician. A member of the Democratic Party, he served as the U.S. representative for from 2001 to 2013 and was his party's nominee for governor of Arkansas in 2014. He is currently the last Democrat to have represented Arkansas in the House of Representatives. He was also a member of the Arkansas Senate from 1991 to 2001, a member of the Nevada County Quorum Court from 1983 to 1985, and a small business owner. On July 25, 2011, Ross announced that he would not seek reelection to the House in 2012. He instead became the Democratic nominee for governor of Arkansas in the general election scheduled for November 4, 2014. Hugh Bradley (Arkansas Settler)
Hugh Bradley (1783–1854) was among the early settlers of South Arkansas and the namesake of Bradley County, Arkansas. Captain Bradley is best known for his part in the migration of several families from the military district of middle Tennessee during the 1810s-1820s. His leadership and continuing influence in the establishment of the town of Warren, led to the naming of the county in his honor when it was formed in 1840. The Flatboat Journey The Bradleys and several other families, set out from Round Lick, Wilson County, Tennessee in 1818, in flatboats. Probably, they used the Mississippi to travel to the mouth of the Atchafalaya River in southern Louisiana. Warren, Arkansas
Warren is a city in and the county seat of Bradley County, Arkansas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 6,003. History When settlers from the east began to arrive in south Arkansas, the land was inhabited by the indigenous tribe known as the Quapaw. The earliest cession of territory was made in 1818, with a later boundary against the neighboring Choctaw tribe in 1820, opening up the southeastern corner of the Arkansas Territory for settlement. Although the area had been settled by European-Americans for approximately thirty years, the city itself was not incorporated until 1851. Tradition says the city is named after a former slave, freed by Captain Hugh Bradley, the namesake of the county and leader of the main early settlement party which established the city.
