Rob Houghtlin
Rob Houghtlin (January 4, 1965) is a former kicker for the University of Iowa's football team from 1985 to 1987. He made four game-winning field goals in his career, the most memorable of which led Iowa to a victory over Michigan in 1985. Early life Rob Houghtlin attended New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois. He played for one season at Miami University before transferring to the University of Iowa, walking on as a sophomore before the 1985 season. Houghtlin success with dramatic, game-winning kicks began at an early age. With less than a minute to play, his Winnetka Chiefs 8th grade football team marched 92 yard to tie Antioch in the Northern Illinois championship. Forgoing the traditional one point run, Winnetka chose to kick for two points; Houghtlin nailed the game-winner as time expired. Placekicker
Placekicker, or simply kicker (PK or K), is the player in gridiron football who is responsible for the kicking duties of field goals and extra points. In many cases, the placekicker also serves as the team's kickoff specialist or punter. Specialized role The kicker initially was not a specialized role. Prior to the 1934 standardization of the prolate spheroid shape of the ball, drop kicking was the prevalent method of kicking field goals and conversions, but even after its replacement by place kicking, until the 1960s the kicker almost always doubled at another position on the roster. The Iowa Hawkeyes football program represents the University of Iowa in college football. The Hawkeyes compete in the West division of the Big Ten Conference. Chuck Hartlieb
Charles Gregory Hartlieb (born March 12, 1966) is a former American football quarterback. He played college football for the Iowa Hawkeyes from 1984 to 1988 and started at that position from 1987 to 1988. He was a high school standout at Marian Central Catholic High School in Woodstock, Illinois, where he was named the 1983 Courier News Player of the Year. Hartlieb emerged as the Hawkeyes' starting quarterback in 1987, winning the job from Dan McGwire. He passed for 3,092 yards and 19 touchdowns en route to a 9–3 record and a 20–19 victory over Wyoming in the 1987 Holiday Bowl. Holiday Bowl
The Holiday Bowl is a post-season NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision college football bowl game that has been played in San Diego since 1978. San Diego County Credit Union has been the game's title sponsor since 2017, and the bowl has been officially known as the San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl. Past editions of the bowl were played at San Diego Stadium. Future editions are planned to be played at Petco Park in San Diego, under a five-year arrangement reached in 2021.
