Rob Burton
Rob Burton is a Canadian businessman, journalist and politician. He currently serves as the mayor of Oakville, Ontario, in Canada. He was elected in the municipal elections of 2006, having failed to unseat Ann Mulvale in 2003. He was re-elected to office in the 2010, 2014 and 2018 municipal elections. In a 2014 endorsement of his re-election campaign, the Toronto Star editorial board called Burton "among the best mayors in the Greater Toronto Area." Early career and education Burton graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in history and economics before receiving a Master's of Science in Journalism from Columbia University. After receiving his master's degree in 1971, he became a journalist for the ''Watertown Daily Times'' in New York State. 2006 Oakville Municipal Election
The 2006 Oakville municipal elections took place on 13 November 2006, to elect a regional government chair, the town mayor, six town and regional councillors, and six town councillors in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. Oakville elects two councillors from each of six wards to its town council for a total of 13, including the mayor. Each ward elects one of its two councillors to serve also on the 21-member council of the regional government of the Municipality of Halton. The mayor of Oakville is a voting member of both councils. The other members of the Halton Council come from Burlington (7), Milton (3) and Halton Hills (3), plus the directly elected at large Chair of the Region. YTV (TV Channel)
YTV is a Canadian English language specialty channel owned by YTV Canada, Inc., a subsidiary of Corus Entertainment. The channel and its programming is targeted at children and young teenagers; its name was originally thought to be an abbreviation for "Youth Television", though the channel's website has denied this. The channel was launched on September 1, 1988 by owners Rogers Media and CUC Broadcasting upon launch. In 1995, Shaw Communications acquired CUC's 34% stake and in 1998, it acquired Rogers' remaining interest of the channel, before Shaw's media division was spun off to form Corus Entertainment in 1999. The Halton Regional Police Service provides policing service for the Regional Municipality of Halton, which is located west of Toronto, in Ontario, Canada. The (; SA; literally "Storm Detachment") was the original paramilitary wing of the Nazi Party. It played a significant role in Adolf Hitler's rise to power in the 1920s and 1930s. A green belt is a policy and land-use zone designation used in land-use planning to retain areas of largely undeveloped, wild, or agricultural land surrounding or neighboring urban areas.
