Roaring Years
''Roaring Years'' ( it, Gli anni ruggenti) is a 1962 Italian comedy film directed by Luigi Zampa, set in the 1930s during the Fascist period of Benito Mussolini. It stars Nino Manfredi and Gino Cervi, and was inspired by the satirical comedy "The Government Inspector” by Nikolai Gogol. It won Best Feature at the 1962 Locarno International Film Festival. Plot summary The film portrays the corrupt administration of an Apulia town during the Fascist Regime of 1937, after it has learned, in a roundabout way, of a pending anonymous visit of a government inspector from Rome. The inspector will determine if the administration adhered to the government's strict guidelines for economic and social planning. The threat of the inspection creates terror in the administrators, who fear their misdeeds will be revealed. Most fearful are those guilty of enriching themselves from public funds, and other abuses. Luigi Zampa
Luigi Zampa (2 January 1905 – 16 August 1991) was an Italian film director. Biography Son of a worker, Zampa studied filmmaking from 1932 to 1937 at the Italian film school Centro sperimentale di cinematografia in Rome. He directed several Italian neorealism films in the 1940s. In 1949 he filmed ''Alarm Bells'' on Ischia, and also shot a separate British version under the title '' Children of Chance''. During the 1950s and 1960s, he became a director of several successful films belonging to the Commedia all'italiana genre, some starring Alberto Sordi. Nikolai Gogol
Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol; uk, link=no, Мико́ла Васи́льович Го́голь, translit=Mykola Vasyliovych Hohol; (russian: Яновский; uk, Яновський, translit=Yanovskyi) ( – ) was a Russian novelist, short story writer and playwright of Ukrainian origin. Gogol was one of the first to use the technique of the grotesque, in works such as " The Nose", " Viy", "The Overcoat", and "Nevsky Prospekt". These stories, and others such as " Diary of a Madman", have also been noted for their proto-surrealist qualities. According to Viktor Shklovsky, Gogol's strange style of writing resembles the "ostranenie" technique of defamiliarization. Linda Sini (13 February 1924 – 5 February 1999) was an Italian film actress. She made 75 appearances between 1950 and 1979 and several appearances after this, mostly in film. Debuting in '' Sigillo rosso'' in 1950, she went on to star in films such as Luigi Zampa's comedy '' Anni ruggenti'' (1962), and the James Bond spy spoofs ''002 operazione Luna'' and '' A 001, operazione Giamaica'' (1965). Salvo Randone
Salvatore "Salvo" Randone (25 September 1906 – 6 March 1991) was an Italian theatrical, television and film actor. Born in Syracuse, Sicily, Randone debuted on stage in mid-1920s and, after some years in which he played roles of little weight, he became in the fifties one of the most critically appreciated actors in Italian theatre. After a few minor roles in 1940s and 1950s he started in early 1960s a quite prolific film career as character actor; for his performances he was awarded with two Silver Ribbons and a grolla d'oro. Gastone Moschin (8 June 1929 – 4 September 2017) was an Italian stage, television and film actor.
