Roanoke Valley Vipers
The Roanoke Valley Vipers were a minor professional ice hockey team located in Roanoke, Virginia. They were a member of the United Hockey League and played in the Roanoke Civic Center. The franchise was formed in 2002 as the Port Huron Beacons and played in McMorran Arena in Port Huron, Michigan, through the end of the 2004–05 season. The franchise was relocated to Roanoke for the 2005–06 season, filling the void left after the ECHL's Roanoke Express disbanded and to provide a travel partner near the Richmond RiverDogs. Roanoke ( ) is an independent city in the U.S. state of Virginia. Vinton is a town in Roanoke County, Virginia, United States. The population was 8,059 at the 2020 census. Vinton is part of the Roanoke Metropolitan Statistical Area and the Roanoke Region of Virginia. History By the late 18th century, settlers began moving into the area and in 1797, the Gish family established a gristmill on Glade Creek. Afterward the area would become known as Gish's Mill. As the railroad expanded into the Roanoke Valley, Gish's Mill became a stop for the Atlantic, Mississippi and Ohio Railroad. In the late 1870s and early 1880s, the Gish family led a movement to establish a town around the train depot site. Aleksandrs Jerofejevs (sometimes referred to as Alexander Erofeev; born 12 April 1984) is a Latvian ice hockey defenceman, currently playing for Dinamo Riga of Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Matthew Jon-Porter Elich (born September 22, 1978) is an Americans, American former professional ice hockey Winger (ice hockey), winger. Biography Elich was born in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. As a youth, he played in the 1992 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with the Detroit Little Caesars minor ice hockey team. Elich played junior ice hockey with the Windsor Spitfires in the Ontario Hockey League. He was drafted in the third round, 61st overall, by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. Elich made his National Hockey League debut with the Lightning during the 1999–2000 NHL season, appearing in eight games and scoring one goal. He appeared in eight more games for the Lightning during the 2000–01 NHL season. David-Alexandre Beauregard
David-Alexandre Beauregard (born January 28, 1976) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played 14 years in the minor leagues. Early years Beauregard was born in Montreal, Quebec. From a very young age, Beauregard had been a scorer. When he was seven years old, he scored 230 goals in 43 games. As a junior playing in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Beauregard scored 224 points in 190 games; however, in his draft year he was only 5 feet 10 inches and weighed 165 pounds - too small to be selected early in the National Hockey League (NHL) draft. Despite his size, the San Jose Sharks had shown an interest in Beauregard and, on June 28, 1994, the Sharks selected him in the 11th round of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft, 271st overall. Chicago Hounds (ice Hockey Team)
The Chicago Hounds were a minor professional ice hockey team in the United Hockey League (UHL) for the 2006–07 UHL season. They played their home games at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. The new UHL team was approved for a new arena in Hoffman Estates in early 2005 to be owned by Dr. Eric Margenau, a New York-based psychologist who also owned several other minor league teams including the Chicago Slaughter indoor football team. On January 31, 2006, Robbie Nichols was announced to be leaving his post as coach of the Richmond RiverDogs, which was also owned by Dr. Margenau, to start up the new UHL team in Chicago. The Hounds franchise was then officially a relocation of the RiverDogs after the owners did not renew their lease in Richmond.
