Rizvi or Rizavi or رضوی is the Urdu form of the Arabic surname Radawi/Radhawi and the Persian surname Razavi. It is a surname commonly associated with Muslims, who claim descent from the Imam Ali al-Ridha, a descendant of the Islamic prophet Muhammad through his grandson Husayn ibn Ali. Ali Amjad Rizvi (born 29 May 1975) is a Pakistani-born Canadian atheist ex-Muslim and secular humanist writer and podcaster who explores the challenges of Muslims who leave their faith. He writes a column for the ''Huffington Post'' and co-hosts the ''Secular Jihadists for a Muslim Enlightenment'' podcast together with Armin Navabi. Khawar Rizvi (1 June 1938 – 15 November 1981) was a poet and scholar of Urdu and Persian. His real name was Syed Sibte Hassan Rizvi. Rizvi adopted "Khawar," meaning "the east" in Persian, as a pen-name for writing poetry and essays. Rizvi was a great lover and admirer of east, eastern way of life and eastern values.
