Rivière-du-Loup (electoral District)
Rivière-du-Loup is a former provincial electoral district in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region of Quebec, Canada, which elected members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It was created for the 1931 Quebec general election, 1931 election from a portion of the electoral district of Témiscouata (provincial electoral district), Témiscouata. It disappeared in the 1939 Quebec general election, 1939 election and its successor electoral district was Kamouraska–Rivière-du-Loup; however, it was re-created for the 1944 Quebec general election, 1944 election. Its final general election was in 2008 Quebec general election, 2008; there was a by-election in 2009. It disappeared in the 2012 Quebec general election, 2012 election and the successor electoral district was Rivière-du-Loup–Témiscouata. Les Basques ''(the Basques)'' is a regional county municipality in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region in eastern Quebec, Canada. It is located on the south bank of the Saint Lawrence River halfway between Rimouski and Rivière-du-Loup. The county seat is in Trois-Pistoles. Bas-Saint-Laurent
The Bas-Saint-Laurent (Lower Saint-Lawrence), is an administrative region of Quebec located along the south shore of the lower Saint Lawrence River in Quebec. The river widens at this place, later becoming a bay that discharges into the Atlantic Ocean and is often nicknamed ''"Bas-du-Fleuve"'' (Lower-River). The region is formed by eight regional county municipalities and 114 municipalities. In the south, it borders Maine of the United States, and the Canadian New Brunswick and the regions of Chaudière-Appalaches and Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine. It had a population of 197,385 and a land area of as of the 2016 Census. The territory has evidence of human occupation since the Pleistocene by successive indigenous peoples. Trois-Pistoles, Quebec
Trois-Pistoles is a city in Les Basques Regional County Municipality in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region of Quebec, Canada. It is also the county seat. The town is located on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River. A ferry crosses the river to Les Escoumins on the north shore. The port facilities are also used by fishing boats and scuba divers. The town is the site of the University of Western Ontario's annual French immersion program, which has existed since 1932. It is the oldest such program in Canada. Just offshore of the town lies Île aux Basques, an island that was used by Basque whalers in the 16th century. The island, part of the surrounding Municipality of Notre-Dame-des-Neiges, is a National Historic Site of Canada and is now a migratory bird sanctuary.
