The Riverton Prize ( no, Rivertonprisen) is a literature award given annually to the best Norwegian crime story (novel, short story, play, original screenplay). The prize is named after the Norwegian journalist and author Sven Elvestad (1884-1934) who published detective stories under the pen name ''Stein Riverton''. Chris Tvedt (born 3 August 1954) is a Norwegian lawyer and crime fiction writer. He was awarded the Riverton Prize In 2010. Biography Tvedt was born in Bergen on 3 August 1954. Jan Mehlum (born 1 January 1945) is a Norwegian crime fiction writer and sociologist. He was awarded the Riverton Prize in 1998 for the crime novel ''Kalde hender''. Personal life and early career Mehlum was born in Tønsberg on 1 January 1945. He studied at the University of Oslo, and is an economist and sociologist by education. He has work experience in various fields such as education, business and culture. He founded the private cinema Tønsberg Kino, and has taken an active part in contemporary debates, including writing non-fiction books. Frode Grytten
Frode Grytten is a Norwegian writer and journalist. Born 11 December 1960 in Bergen and a native of Odda, he is the author of the Brage Prize-winning novel ''Bikubesong'' ("Song of the Beehive") as well as other short stories and poems. His works have been translated into Swedish, Danish, Finnish, German, Dutch, French, English, Albanian, Croatian and Chinese. Kolbjørn Hauge
Kolbjørn Hauge (2 April 1926 – 15 August 2007) was a Norwegian schoolteacher, crime fiction and non-fiction writer. He was awarded the Riverton Prize for 1995 for the crime novel ''Død mann i boks''. Biography Hauge was born at Kyrkjøy on Finnøy in Ryfylke. He was the son of Kolbein Andersson Hauge (1889–1972) and Marianne Rasmusdotter Auglænd (1893–1967). His brother was journalist, novelist, poet and historian Alfred Hauge (1915–1986). Hauge grew up in a pietistic rural environment. He had a versatile career including a gardener, fisherman, roadworker, clerk and sailor before embarking on a career in education. He obtained a teacher's degree at Stord/Haugesund University College which he attended from 1947-51. Karin Fossum (born 6 November 1954) is a Norwegian author of crime fiction, often referred to as the "Norwegian queen of crime". Early life Karin Mathisen was born on 6 November 1954 in Sandefjord, in Vestfold county, Norway. She currently lives in Sylling, near Oslo. Tom Egeland
Tom Egeland (born 8 July 1959 in Oslo) is a Norwegian author. His great-grandfather was Jon Flatabø from Kvam in Hardanger, one of the pioneer authors of popular literature in Norway. Egeland's novels are published in Norwegian and transelated into 25 languages.
