Sturgeon County is a List of municipal districts in Alberta, municipal district the Edmonton Metropolitan Region of Alberta, Canada. It is north of Edmonton and west of the North Saskatchewan River. Sturgeon County is located in Division No. 11, Alberta, Division No. 11 and was named for the Sturgeon River (Alberta), Sturgeon River. History In 1876, the Crown gained title to the land that would later become Sturgeon County in Treaty 6 with First Nations. The area was first settled in 1879. The first settlers were several francophone families. The ''Municipal District (MD) of Sturgeon River No. 90'' was originally incorporated on January 1, 1955 and became the ''County of Sturgeon No. 15'' on January 1, 1961. Riverside Park Dance Pavilion
The Riverside Park Dance Pavilion is in Merrick County, Nebraska. It was built in 1940 with the aim of reviving the Riverside Park area. At its peak, dances were held twice a week drawing people from central Nebraska. Its simple design (altered little since its construction) was characteristic of dance halls of its time, but which rarely still exist today. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. History In the early 1900s, Central City underwent a building and business boom. In the fall of 1920, business leaders from Central City purchased over of land, known as Parker's Island, from the estate of George Howell. They formed a non-profit corporation, the Riverside Park Association. Its purpose was to improve and operate the park for the entertainment of the general public. Riverside Park, Dawson Springs
Riverside Park, located in Dawson Springs, Kentucky, was originally built in 1914 to serve as a spring training park for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1914 to 1917. Sometimes referred to as Tradewater Park, it is the only known baseball park in Kentucky to have hosted a major league team since the Louisville Colonels folded in . While the original stadium was destroyed in a flood in the 1930s, it was later rebuilt in 1999. Like the original stadium, the rebuilt park is reconstructed out of wood. It is the only ballpark of its kind in Western Kentucky. History Initial park Dawson Springs is home to a mineral spring that was believed by many to have medical healing qualities. Riverside Park was a baseball park in Phoenix, Arizona, that fell into disuse after a Phoenix Municipal Stadium was constructed in 1937. It served as the spring training home of the Detroit Tigers in 1929, the first team to hold spring training in Phoenix. The park had been around since at least 1884. The name "Riverside Motorsports Park" was not derived from its location (which was miles from the nearest river). Instead, the name was derived from the configuration of the park's -mile Road Course, which would have replicated, as closely as possible (given current track safety requirements), the road course at the Riverside International Raceway (Riverside, California) that closed in 1989. Riverside Park is a public park located on the riverfront of downtown La Crosse, Wisconsin. It hosts events such as Riverfest, Fourth of July fireworks, Oktoberfest, Moon Tunes, and the Rotary Lights. The steamboats American Queen, La Crosse Queen, and Julia Belle Swain make stops along the river in the park. The park has walking/running trails. Riverside State Park is a Washington state park located northwest of Spokane in the community of Nine Mile Falls. The park protects of Okanagan dry forest along the Spokane and Little Spokane rivers. It is the second largest state park in Washington after Mount Spokane State Park and is a popular recreation area for locals. History The park came into being with various gifts of land in 1933 and 1934. It was developed by members of the Civilian Conservation Corps. Evidence of the CCC's work can be seen at the Bowl and Pitcher area's suspension bridge, kitchen shelter, restroom, park residence, office, and maintenance shop.
