Riversdale Cup
The Riversdale Cup is the second oldest amateur golf tournament in Australia. It is a Golf Australia national ranking event. The event has been played since 1896 and is organised by and played at the Riversdale Golf Club in Mount Waverley, Victoria. It was known as the Surrey Hills Gentlemen's Championship, Gold Medal from 1896 to 1907, the Riversdale Trophy from 1909 to 1926, and the Riversdale Cup since 1928. The men's event has been played as a 72-hole stroke play tournament since 1958 when Kevin Hartley won for the first time. The All Abilities Riversdale Cup commenced in 2020. Golf
Golf is a club-and-ball sport in which players use various clubs to hit balls into a series of holes on a course in as few strokes as possible. Golf, unlike most ball games, cannot and does not use a standardized playing area, and coping with the varied terrains encountered on different courses is a key part of the game. Courses typically have either 18 or 9 ''holes'', regions of terrain that each contain a ''cup'', the hole that receives the ball. Nathan Holman
Nathan Holman (born 19 April 1991) is an Australian professional golfer from Melbourne, Australia who plays on the PGA Tour of Australasia, the European Tour, and the Asian Tour. In December 2015, he won the Australian PGA Championship for his first professional victory. Amateur career Holman had a successful amateur career and just prior to turning professional he was ranked number two in Australia and number 25 in the world. Brendan Jones (golfer)
Brendan Mark Jones (born 3 March 1975) is an Australian professional golfer who plays on the Japan Golf Tour, where he has won 15 times between 2002 and 2019. Amateur career Jones has a successful amateur career. He was part of the Australian team that took silver medal in the 1998 Eisenhower Trophy and he won the Australian Amateur in 1999, beating Mahal Pearce 2&1 in the final. Aaron Baddeley
Aaron John Baddeley (born 17 March 1981) is an Australian professional golfer. He was born in Lebanon, New Hampshire, USA and now plays on the U.S.-based PGA Tour, he has joint U.S. and Australian citizenship and was raised in Australia from the age of two. Richard Moir (born 1950) is an Australian former actor and editor. He is known for many Australian film roles and in the TV soap opera ''Prisoner'' (also known as ''Prisoner: Cell Block H'') as the original character of electrician Eddie Cook. He is also well known for playing "Dad" Tony Twist in the children's comedy ''Round the Twist''. In 1990, Moir was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, the degenerative effects of which gradually brought his acting career to a premature end. Kurt Barnes
Kurt Barnes (born 25 May 1981) is an Australian professional golfer. Barnes was born in Muswellbrook, New South Wales. He had a successful amateur career which included victories in the 2002 Australian Amateur, the 2003 Riversdale Cup, which he won with a record 22 under par total, and the 2003 New Zealand Amateur Stroke Play Championship. He turned professional at the end of 2003 and joined the PGA Tour of Australasia. Michael Sim
Michael Sim (born 23 October 1984) is an Australian professional golfer. Amateur career Sim was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, and moved to Australia when he was 5 years old. He was an Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder in 2002. He was the top ranked amateur in the world in 2005 having won four titles during the year including the Sunnehanna Amateur and the Monroe Invitational. He turned professional at the end of the year. Tim Stewart (born 15 February 1985) is an Australian professional golfer. A former Australian Amateur champion, he turned professional in November 2008 and played primarily on the Asian Tour.
