Kurt Barnes
Kurt Barnes (born 25 May 1981) is an Australian professional golfer. Barnes was born in Muswellbrook, New South Wales. He had a successful amateur career which included victories in the 2002 Australian Amateur, the 2003 Riversdale Cup, which he won with a record 22 under par total, and the 2003 New Zealand Amateur Stroke Play Championship. He turned professional at the end of 2003 and joined the PGA Tour of Australasia. In 2009 Barnes became the first Australian to win on the Omega China Tour, when he claimed victory in the Sofitel Zhongshan IGC Open. He went on to head the tour's Order of Merit that season, before winning his place on the Japan Golf Tour by finishing first at the tour's qualifying school. Muswellbrook, New South Wales
Muswellbrook ( ) is a town in the Upper Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia, about north of Sydney and north-west of Newcastle. Geologically, Muswellbrook is situated in the northern parts of the Sydney basin, bordering the New England region. The area is predominantly known for coal mining and horse breeding, but has also developed a reputation for gourmet food and wine production. As at June 2018 Muswellbrook has a population of 12,364. SK Telecom Open
The SK Telecom Open is an annual professional golf tournament hosted in South Korea and sponsored by the Korean cell phone company SK Telecom. The tournament was inaugurated in June 1997 as "SK Telecom Classic", and renamed in 2001. It is part of the Korean Tour for men, and was co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour from 2001 to 2007. It was co-sanctioned by the OneAsia Tour from 2010 to 2015. Since 2017 it has had prize money of ₩1,200,000,000. The tenth edition, held 4–7 May 2006, was shortened to 54 holes because of rain. Australian Men's Interstate Teams Matches
The Australian Men's Interstate Teams Matches were an amateur team golf competition for men between the states and territories of Australia. The event started in 1904 when New South Wales played Victoria. Until World War II the event was played as part of the championship meeting which included the Australian Amateur. It was not until 1947 that all six states, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, and Western Australia, contested the event together. Northern Territory first played in 2015 increasing the number of teams to seven. The final format was a round-robin tournament, each team playing the other six teams, after which the top two teams play a final. Each team consisted of eight players. The PGA Championship (often referred to as the US PGA Championship or USPGA outside the United States) is an annual golf tournament conducted by the Professional Golfers' Association of America. The Open Championship, often referred to as The Open or the British Open, is the oldest golf tournament in the world, and one of the most prestigious. Masters Tournament
The Masters Tournament (usually referred to as simply The Masters, or the U.S. Masters outside North America) is one of the four major championships in professional golf. Scheduled for the first full week of April, the Masters is the first major of the year, and unlike the others, it is always held at the same location, Augusta National Golf Club, a private course in the city of Augusta, Georgia, in the southeastern United States. The Masters was started by amateur champion Bobby Jones and investment banker Clifford Roberts. Nathan Green (golfer)
Nathan Andrew Green (born 13 May 1975) is an Australian professional golfer. Born in New South Wales' second-most-populous city, Newcastle, Nathan Green turned professional in 1998. During his early career, he played mostly on the PGA Tour of Australasia, and the Canadian Tour during the Australian winter. In 2000 he won the Queensland PGA Championship in Australia, and the Benefit Partners/NRCS Classic in Canada. Having failed to gain his PGA Tour card through the qualifying school, Green competed on the second tier Nationwide Tour in the United States in 2002, 2004 and 2005. He ended the 2005 season 18th on the money list, which enabled him to graduate directly to the PGA Tour for 2006. Mitsubishi Motors Victorian Open
The Vic Open is an annual golf tournament held in Australia. It was founded in 1957 and is the Victoria state open championship for men. It is run by Golf Victoria and is a Golf Australia national ranking event. The event is held concurrently with the Women's Victorian Open and offers equal prize pool for the two events. The Queensland PGA Championship is a golf tournament on the PGA Tour of Australasia. The tournament is currently held at Nudgee Golf Club in Nudgee. History The event was founded as the Queensland Professional Championship in 1926. The inaugural championship was played at Brisbane Golf Club in late November with 12 professionals competing. There was a 36-hole stroke-play stage with the leading 4 qualifying for the match-play. The 36-hole semi-finals were played the following day with the 36-hole final on the third day. Arthur Spence, the Royal Queensland professional, beat Jack Quarton, the Toowoomba professional, in the final.
