The music of the Philippines ( fil, Musika ng Pilipinas) includes the musical performance arts in the Philippines and the music of Filipinos composed in various local and international genres and styles. Philippine musical compositions are often a mixture of different Asian, Spanish, Latin American, American, and indigenous influences. Philippine folk music has a strong Spanish and Latin American influence, derived from when the country was under the Spanish crown for over 300 years. Buhay (Rivermaya Album)
''Buhay'' (Filipino, "Life") is the ninth studio album of the Filipino rock band, Rivermaya. It contains 16 tracks and was released under Warner Music Philippines on January 21, 2008. This album is the first of Rivermaya without Rico Blanco as the band's vocalist. He is replaced by then 18-year-old Jayson Fernandez, who won the search for a new vocalist in a series of reality TV auditions. The band members took turns on vocals with the arrangement that whoever wrote the song, will be the one to sing it. ''Bandila'' () was a Philippine television late-night news program broadcast by ABS-CBN with simulcast worldwide via TFC, Originally anchored by Korina Sanchez, Henry Omaga-Diaz and Ces Oreña-Drilon. The program premiered on July 3, 2006, and most recently aired weeknights from 10:50PM to 11:20PM before it was suspended on March 17, 2020 and eventually cancelled after the National Telecommunications Commission ordered the shutdown of ABS-CBN. Julius Babao and Karen Davila served as the final anchors. Babao and Davila later participated on ''TV Patrol'' as interim anchors until the former's departure for TV5 and the latter was named a main anchor of the said newscast. "Kisapmata" (Blink) is a song written by Rico Blanco for the Filipino rock band Rivermaya. It was released as the lead single from their second album, ''Trip'', in December 1995. It was one of Rivermaya's songs on which the group's original frontman Bamboo Mañalac sings lead vocals, and was the first Rivermaya single after original guitarist Perf de Castro left. ''Live and Acoustic'' is a live album and the ninth overall album of the Filipino rock band, Rivermaya featuring Slapshock. This is a 2-disc album and has 22 tracks (13 audio tracks from Disc 1 and 9 music videos from Disc 2). The album has been released under Viva Records on January 28, 2003. This is the band's first live album filmed and recorded on May 18, 2002 from the "Double Trouble: Akoustik Rampage" concert at the Music Museum, Greenhills, San Juan. The bonus track "Basketbol" was performed at the Fort on December 8, 2001 to celebrate the 2nd Anniversary at Pulp Magazine also dubbed as "The Freakshow". ''You'll Be Safe Here'' is an EP by OPM rock band Rivermaya that features the eponymous song first used as the theme song of the 2004 ABS-CBN TV horror-drama series ''Spirits''. The CD of the EP includes two music videos for "You'll Be Safe Here", where the second video used an advanced technology that translates the song's lyrics into Filipino. The song was performed by the band at the 2006 MTV Asia Awards, where Rivermaya was the only Filipino band to perform. The song reached #1 on the Philippine music charts during its release. Two years after its release, it gained popularity in Asia and was thereafter slated for a European release. Universal Records Philippines, Inc. is a Filipino record label founded in 1977 as part of Warner Music Group. Since 1992, it is an independent label.
