The Left Alliance ( fi, Vasemmistoliitto , sv, Vänsterförbundet, vas.) is a left-wing political party in Finland. The Left Alliance was founded in 1990 as the chief successor of the left-wing Finnish People's Democratic League (SKDL). Although not as electorally successful as the SKDL, it has achieved some success, typically receiving around eight to ten percent of the vote in parliamentary elections. It has participated in five cabinets, most recently the Marin Cabinet formed in 2019. It is socialist, and democratic-socialist, and it supports the principles of eco-socialism. A member of the Party of the European Left and Nordic Green Left Alliance, the party organ is the weekly ''Kansan Uutiset''. Oulu is a Finnish constituency represented in eduskunta. It covers the administrative regions of Northern Ostrobothnia and Kainuu, with a combined population of about 459,000 (). Raahe
Raahe (; sv, Brahestad; ) is a town and municipality of Finland. Founded by Swedish statesman and Governor General of Finland Count Per Brahe the Younger in 1649, it is one of 10 historic wooden towns (or town centers) remaining in Finland. Examples of other Finnish historic wooden towns are Kaskinen (Kaskö), Old Rauma, Porvoo (Borgå), Jakobstad (Pietarsaari), and Vaasa (Vasa). After a devastating fire in 1810, Raahe was rebuilt adhering to new design principles which minimized the risk of fire and enlarged some civic spaces.
