Riot City Wrestling (RCW) is an Australian independent professional wrestling promotion founded in January 2006 in Adelaide, South Australia. It runs shows independently, in conjunction with local festivals, as well as with other organizations and wrestling promotions. History Riot City Wrestling was founded in Adelaide in January 2006. In 2010, RCW appeared at the Adelaide Fringe, hosting the STRENGTH Cup tournament, and was voted one of the festival's top five attractions by the ''Adelaide Advertiser''. They returned to the festival in 2011, hosting the tournament again. For the 2014 festival, the company promoted a lucha libre-themed show. On 1 July 2012, the Goodwood Saints Football Club of the South Australian Amateur Football League hosted RCW for a special fundraiser. RCW wrestlers the Basso Boys, who competed at the event, had previously played C Grade Australian Rules Football. Professional wrestling is a form of theater that revolves around staged wrestling matches. The mock combat is performed in a ring similar to the kind used in boxing, and the dramatic aspects of pro wrestling may be performed both in the ring or—as in televised wrestling shows—in backstage areas of the venue, in similar form to reality television. Professional wrestling as a form of theater evolved out of the widespread practice of match fixing among wrestlers in the early 20th century. Revolutionary Championship Wrestling is a Midwestern independent professional wrestling promotion based in Portsmouth, Ohio. History RCW was formed in early 2002 by Dirk Cunningham who had left the Superstar Wrestling Federation (SWF) after creative differences with Owner Andy Runyon. Soon afterwards several other wrestling stars left the SWF as well due to creative differences. In mid-2002 Cunningham acquired a ring, promoters license and formed a booking committee featuring himself, Jerry Davis, Jason Taylor, V.L.
