Rimburg
Rimburg () is a village in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is located in the municipality of Landgraaf, on the German border. Wurm
The Wurm (; nl, Worm ) is a river in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in western Germany. It rises in the Eifel mountains and flows for 57 kilometres before discharging into the Rur. Geography The Wurm is a left (western) tributary of the Rur ( nl, Roer). The Rur is a tributary of the Meuse. The sources of the Wurm are several brooks in the forests southwest of Aachen, which form the Wurm after the ''Diepenbenden'' reservoir. From there the Wurm nowadays flows through canals through the city of Aachen, until it resurfaces again at the ''Europaplatz'' in the east of Aachen. North of Aachen (between Kerkrade and Herzogenrath) the river forms the border with the Netherlands for approximately 10 km. It flows into the Rur near Heinsberg. Other towns on the river Wurm are Würselen, Übach-Palenberg and Geilenkirchen. Ubach Over Worms
Ubach over Worms () is a former Municipalities of the Netherlands, municipality located in the southeast of the Netherlands, in the Provinces of the Netherlands, province of Limburg (Netherlands), Limburg. In 1982 it was incorporated into the new municipality of Landgraaf along with Schaesberg and Nieuwenhagen. The German name for this part of Landgraaf is "Waubach". It is believed the latter name derives from ''Waldbach'', which is German language, German for "woodland creek", referring to the local Wurm, Worm stream. This name is said to have later become corrupted to Waubach. Ubach over Worms as a municipality dates back to 1795. It contained the five hamlets; Groenstraat, Rimburg, Waubach, Lauradorp and Abdissenbosch. After the French occupation the Kingdom of the Netherlands was formed and the Overworms area was separated from the German town Ãœbach. Schaesberg
Schaesberg ( li, D'r Sjeet ) is a neighbourhood of Landgraaf and former village in the Dutch province of Limburg. History The village was first mentioned in 16th century as Gaesberg. The etymology is unknown. Schaesberg developed in the 17th century between the Schaesberg and Strijthagen castles from the 13th century. In 1618, it became a ''heerlijkheid''. In 1661, it became part of the Spanish Netherlands, and in 1713 an enclave of the Austrian Netherlands within the Dutch Republic. In 1785, it became part of the Dutch Republic. The Catholic Peter and Paul Church was founded in 1648. In 1699, it was expanded and a tower was attached. Strijthagen Castle was built in 1530, but probably had a 13th century predecessor. It received its current form around 1700. Schaesberg castle was abandoned in 1733, and only ruins remain. Schaesberg was home to 710 people in 1840. Ãœbach-Palenberg
Übach-Palenberg is a town in the Heinsberg district of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It was formed by the merger of two villages, Palenberg and Übach. Geography The town is located at the border with the Netherlands, at approx. 10 km east of Heerlen and 15 km north of Aachen. The river Wurm flows through the area. The town has an area of 26.106 km². More than half the area is agricultural. Brunssum (; li, Broensem) is a municipality and a town in the province of Limburg in the Netherlands. The municipality of Brunssum has residents as of . Brunssum was a center of coal mining until 1973. Population centres Topography History There are indications that there was activity in the area around Brunssum going back to prehistory.
