Riggs is an unincorporated community in Boone County, in the U.S. state of Missouri Missouri is a U.S. state, state in the Midwestern United States, Midwestern region of the United States. Ranking List of U.S. states and territories by area, 21st in land area, it is bordered by eight states (tied for the most with Tennessee .... Today the community is centered around Riggs Union Church. A small store and several homes formerly stood at the intersection of Old Number 7 and Williams Road. The Mount Carmel (Sims) Cemetery is nearby. History A post office called Riggs was established in 1889, and remained in operation until 1907. The community was named after Shelton Riggs, a local merchant whose store also contained the post office. Boone County, Missouri
Boone County is located in the U.S. state of Missouri. Centrally located in Mid-Missouri, its county seat is Columbia, Missouri's fourth-largest city and location of the University of Missouri. As of the 2020 census, the population was 183,610, making it the state's eighth-most populous county. The county was organized November 16, 1820 and named for the then recently deceased Daniel Boone, whose kin largely populated the Boonslick area, having arrived in the 1810s on the Boone's Lick Road.
