Ricky Olarenshaw
Rick Olarenshaw (born 1 February 1973) is a former Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League. He was formerly a boundary rider for Network Seven until being replaced by Matthew Richardson. Playing career Essendon Olarenshaw was recruited from Keilor in 1990 to the Essendon Football Club, where he won the under-19s best and fairest in 1991. He made his senior AFL debut in 1993 with the Bombers and enjoyed a quick rise that year. The left-foot wingman was an important player in the 1993 Bombers premiership side (known as the " Baby Bombers"). Over the following seasons he suffered numerous injuries, particularly to his rib and back, but he went on to enjoy a good season in 1997. Later career/trades Olarenshaw was traded to Collingwood (instead of his preferred club, the Kangaroos) at the end of 1998 after agreeing to leave Essendon. Keilor Football Club
The Keilor Football Club, nicknamed the Blues, is an Australian rules football club located in Keilor, Victoria, north west of Melbourne. The club originated in 1877, formed at a general meeting at the Waggoner's Arms Hotel. In 1926, the club became a founding member of the Keilor and Broadmeadows Football League, winning premierships in 1926 and 1928. Since 1932, the club has competed in the Essendon District Football League and today fields teams in the Premier Division (seniors), Reserves Premier Division and Women's Premier Division, as well as a number of junior squads. The club's home games are held at the Keilor Recreation Reserve, which also houses the club's administrative headquarters and is the base for the Keilor Cricket Club. Greg Baum
Gregory Martin Baum (born 14 December 1959) is an Australian sports journalist. Early years and education Baum was born in Melbourne, Victoria, the first of six children to Martin and Joan Baum. He attended Boronia State Primary school, then St Josephs Primary School Boronia. He then attended St Joseph's Regional College, Ferntree Gully, graduating in 1976. He enrolled in the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) journalism course and began work as a cadet with Leader Newspapers on the local paper, the ''Knox-Sherbrooke News'', in 1977. Journalism career After a number of his articles on the local football competition were republished in '' The Sun'', a major newspaper in Melbourne, Baum was offered a job by that newspaper, becoming a sub-editor at the age of 20. The 1997 AFL season was the 101st season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. The season ran from 27 March until 27 September, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top eight clubs. Before the season, the Port Adelaide Football Club (SANFL) was admitted to the league, increasing the South Australian membership to two clubs.
