Richmond Avenue
Richmond Avenue is a major north-south thoroughfare on Staten Island, New York. Measuring approximately , the road runs from the South Shore community of Eltingville to the North Shore community of Graniteville. Street description Richmond Avenue begins at Tennyson Drive and Crescent Beach Park bordering Raritan Bay. Hylan Boulevard is the first major intersection, to the north. After intersecting Amboy Road and then crossing under the Staten Island Railway, Richmond Avenue continues north to Arthur Kill Road. A tenth of a mile later, the avenue intersects with the end of Korean War Veterans Parkway (formerly Richmond Parkway). Richmond Avenue then crosses over Richmond Creek on the Fresh Kills Bridge, gains a median divider, and passes between the Staten Island Mall and Freshkills Park. Eltingville, Staten Island
Eltingville is a neighborhood in the Staten Island borough of New York City, United States. It is located on Staten Island's South Shore, immediately to the south of Great Kills and north of Annadale. The main commercial area of Eltingville extends down Richmond Avenue, with offshoots heading north on Amboy Road and Hylan Boulevard. Eltingville is represented in the New York State Senate by Andrew Lanza, in the New York State Assembly by Michael Reilly, and in the New York City Council by Joe Borelli. History Originally called South Side, and later Seaside, the neighborhood owes its present name to a prominent family by the name of Elting which settled there in the early 19th century. Staten Island Mall is a shopping mall in New Springville, Staten Island, New York City, opened in 1973. It is the only indoor shopping mall in the borough. The route acts as a connector between the two segments of New Jersey Route 440, running from the Staten Island community of Richmond Valley in the south to Port Richmond in the north. Fresh Kills
Fresh Kills (from the Middle Dutch word '' kille'', meaning "riverbed" or "water channel") is a stream and freshwater estuary in the western portion of the New York City borough of Staten Island. It is the site of the Fresh Kills Landfill, formerly New York City's principal landfill. The watershed (basin) of the Fresh Kills drains much of the wet lowlands of the western portion of the island and flows into the Arthur Kill around the Isle of Meadows. Its co-tributaries include the Rahway River, Morses Creek (New Jersey), Piles Creek, and, via Newark Bay, the Passaic River and the Hackensack River. Port Richmond, Staten Island
Port Richmond is a neighborhood situated on the North Shore of Staten Island, a borough of New York City. Port Richmond is bounded by Kill van Kull on the north, Jewett Avenue on the east, Forest Avenue on the south, and the Bayonne Bridge on the west. It is adjacent to West New Brighton to the east, Westerleigh to the south, and Elm Park and Mariners Harbor to the west. Formerly an independent village, it is one of the oldest neighborhoods on the island. Forest Avenue (Staten Island)
New York State Route 439 (NY 439) was an east–west state highway on Staten Island in New York in the United States. The western terminus of the route was at the Goethals Bridge, where it continued into New Jersey as its Route 439. Its eastern terminus was at the Staten Island Ferry terminal in the St. George neighborhood. In between, NY 439 followed the Staten Island Expressway, Forest Avenue, Victory Boulevard, and Bay Street. When NY 439 was assigned in 1949, it extended eastward into Brooklyn by way of the Bay Ridge Ferry. In Brooklyn, the NY 439 designation continued along Bay Ridge Avenue (69th Street), 4th Avenue and Shore Road Drive to exit 1 of the Belt Parkway, where it ended.
