Richard W. Mansbach
Richard Wallace Mansbach (born 1943) is an American political scientist. Mansbach studied political science, history, and Spanish at Swarthmore College and graduated in 1964. He then attended the University of Oxford as a Marshall Scholar. After completing his dissertation, Mansbach joined the Swarthmore College faculty, in 1967. He became an assistant professor in 1968. Mansbach remained at Swarthmore for two years. While teaching at Rutgers University, Mansbach was named a fellow of the American Council on Education in 1981, and worked for the Central Intelligence Agency. He later moved to Iowa State University. From 1999 to 2004, Mansbach was a co-editor of ''International Studies Quarterly''. Swarthmore College ( , ) is a Private college, private Liberal arts colleges in the United States, liberal arts college in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1864, with its first classes held in 1869, Swarthmore is one of the earliest coeducational colleges in the United States. It was established as a college "under the care of Quakers, Friends, [and] at which an education may be obtained equal to that of the best institutions of learning in our country." By 1906, Swarthmore had dropped its religious affiliation and officially became non-sectarian. Marshall Scholars
The Marshall Scholarship is a postgraduate scholarship for "intellectually distinguished young Americans ndtheir country's future leaders" to study at any university in the United Kingdom. It is widely considered one of the most prestigious scholarships for U.S. citizens, and along with the Fulbright Scholarship, it is the only broadly available scholarship available to Americans to study at any university in the United Kingdom. Created by the Parliament of the United Kingdom in 1953 as a living gift to the United States in recognition of the generosity of Secretary of State George C.
