Richard Tucker (actor)
Richard Tucker (June 4, 1884 – December 5, 1942) was an American actor. Tucker was born in Brooklyn, New York. Appearing in more than 260 films between 1911 and 1940, he was the first official member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and a founding member of SAG's Board of Directors. Tucker died in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles from a heart attack. He is interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, in an unmarked niche in Great Mausoleum, Columbarium of Faith. ''Voices of the City'' (also known as ''The Night Rose'', its intended original release title) is a 1921 American silent crime drama film starring Leatrice Joy and Lon Chaney that was directed by Wallace Worsley, based on the Leroy Scott novel ''The Night Rose''. The film took more than 9 months to be released due to a controversy over the proposed title and the film's abundance of gunplay. The film was retitled ''Voices of the City'' and was only released in December 1921, although it had been completed in early March. The film is still listed under ''The Night Rose'' in some reference sources. The ball sequence involved 300 couples and took five days to film. It is considered a lost film today. ''A Voice in the Dark'' is a 1921 American black-and-white silent mystery film directed by Frank Lloyd and starring Ramsey Wallace, Irene Rich, and Alec B. Francis. The film is based on the play ''A Voice in the Dark'' by Ralph E. Dyar (New York, July 28, 1919). Plot Two sisters engaged on the same day: Adele, the younger, to Dr. Hugh Sainsbury, and Blanche, the eldest, to Harlan Day, an assistant district attorney. They are both suspected of committing a murder when Sainsbury is found dead. Blanche has a motive as Sainsbury almost dishonored her so that she wanted to prevent her sister from marrying him.
